=> Package

	UMT-1.00beta2-*.tar.[Z|gz]- configuration and service files

=> Upgrade

	If you already have UMT Beta 1.x you need re-install the package.
There are a lot of changes in UMT.cfg. Please, check if your customization
follows new version of UMT.cfg.

=> Install

	Uncompress UMT-1.00beta2-*.tar.[Z|gz] archive, for example:

	   tar -zxvf UMT-1.00b2-1.00-full_static-linux_elf.tar.gz
	or
	   gzip -dc UMT-1.00b2-1.00-with_IV_static-hpux9.0.tar.gz | tar -xvf -
	or
           zcat UMT-1.00b2-1.00-with_IV_shared-irix5.3.tar.Z | tar -xvf -

	Change directory to UMT-1.00beta2-*

	   cd UMT-1.00b2-1.00-full_static-linux_elf

	We have Install tool, that automatically install all files. Just
type './Install' and press <Enter>.

	If you want manually install UMT, you should:
		- untar UMT.tar file in /usr/local/lib
		  it consist of
			UMT.cfg     => /usr/local/lib/UMT.cfg
			Images/*    => /usr/local/lib/UMT/Images/*
			Help/*      => /usr/local/lib/UMT/Help/*
			AFM/*       => /usr/local/lib/UMT/AFM/*
			UMT.license => /usr/local/lib/UMT/UMT.license
			Language/*  => /usr/local/lib/UMT/Language/*
		   sample_configs/* => /usr/local/lib/UMT/sample_configs/*
                        mailcap     => /usr/local/lib/UMT/mailcap
		- copy
			UMT.ad      => /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/UMT
			umt         => /usr/local/bin/umt
                on IRIX
                        UMT.icon    => /usr/lib/images/UMT.icon

Optionally:
			libIV.so* => somewhere where are your shared libs
					(/usr/local/lib ???)
			               for LINUX only: run 'ldconfig'
                                       after shared libs coping.

	If you download version with InterViews shared library, you also should
        install InterViews libraries.
        You can take it from ftp://interviews.stanford.edu.

*NOTE* : Now you can get InterViews library, that is used by UMT, from
	UMT/InterViews.so.libs directory.

*NOTE2*: You should not install InterViews libraries for 'IV-static' or
        'full-static' versions

*NOTE3*: You can download static version of UMT

	Then you have to customize UMT to your configuration (global
configuration file /usr/local/lib/UMT.cfg or local ~/.UMT/user.cfg).
When UMT starts first time it creates ~/.UMT/user.cfg and tries to
configurate it to your mailbox. There are some UMT.cfg examples
in /usr/local/lib/UMT/sample_configs for different fonts and
keyboards depending on language.

*Note*: We don't upgrade UMT Configurator for Beta2. Please, don't use it
anymore.

	Just type

prompt> umt

for starting UMT. It automatically creates ~/.UMT directory and some
necessary directories.

	UMT gets command line options like
-[fn | font] <font> - font for UMT' menus, buttons, etc - not for viewer/editor
-[motif | monochrome | openlook] - "Look And Feel" of UMT (-sgimotif by default)
-[dbuf | nodbuf] - using double buffer windows (-dbuf by default)
-display <display> - target workstation display
-dpi <ratio> - coordinates-to-pixel ratio
-[foreground | fg] <color> - foreground color
-geometry - first window's position and size
-iconic - starts up first window in iconic form
-name <name> - instance name of the session
-title <title> - session's default title bar name

You can run "umt -h" for list of options, "umt -version" for version of UMT.

=> Licensing

	We want to sell UMT in future (all versions except Linux).
So, we have licensing mechanism. For now, when you receive UMT 1.0 Beta3,
you also receive temporary license up to 30.06.96. If you want to
use UMT after 30.06.96 you have to contact us and receive new license.
For receiving new license you should send a letter with
	- your license number ( for commercial version, sure)
	- identification number of your computer (just type
		- "sysinfo -s" for SGI
		- "hostid  -v" for Linux)

	In future there probably will not be a license for Linux version,
but we should test license algorithm now.

=> Contacting

	You can send all bug reports to umt@topaz.kiev.ua or feel free
contact me - sebast@topaz.kiev.ua.
