Scriptum 1.1.7 Beta Release
---------------------------

To install Scriptum, you will need three ".tgz" files:

Scriptum-1.1.7b-<your-os>-<shared|static>.tgz
Scriptum-1.1.7b-common.tgz
Scriptum-1.1.7b-html-doc.tgz

Once you downloaded these files, create an empty directory beneath
which you will install the Scriptum distribution, chdir inside
and then extract (in the same directory) the three .tgz files.

Place the executables from the "bin" directory in your favorite
execution PATH directory (or add this bin directory to your PATH
environment variable).

The other directories ("Scriptum", "resources", "translation-kit"
and "htmldoc") must all reside in a directory pointed to by
the "INTER_SOFT" environment variable (/usr/local/inter-soft assumed
if not set).

If you are not planning to use Scriptum in a language other
than english, you can erase the "translation-kit" directory...
otherwise, refer to the "README.non-english" file.

You are now ready to use Scriptum.

Here is a sample session of installing a statically compiled
version of Scriptum for a Linux ELF OS (in the /usr/local/inter-soft
directory):
------------------------------------------------------------------------
mkdir /usr/local/inter-soft
cd /usr/local/inter-soft
tar -zxvf /wherever/the/tgz/files/reside/Scriptum-1.1.7b-linux-elf-static.tgz
tar -zxvf /wherever/the/tgz/files/reside/Scriptum-1.1.7b-common.tgz
tar -zxvf /wherever/the/tgz/files/reside/Scriptum-1.1.7b-html-doc.tgz
export INTER_SOFT=/usr/local/inter-soft
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/inter-soft/bin
