This is my machine coded version of the Zip Compiler as featured in Your Spectrum issues 2/3 (I think!)

It consists of one snap file - namely zip.sna. Perhaps someone could get a copt of the manual uploaded. It's quite a basic compiler - whole numbers only no greater than +/- 65535 (I think) and single letter variables only.

When loaded, you'll see a basic listing - Star Base. Type RUN and watch the game crawl along....

Now compile the program using RANDOMIZE USR 40000. The program is listed to the screen as the compiler checks for simple errors, and then machine code is produced. If there are any problems, the compiler will let you know. If all has worked well, a message will be displayed telling you the command needed to run the newly compiled program.

Watch Star Base go - quite a neet little game really - perhaps one for the Crap Games Compilation!

To write your own programs, simply type NEW - RAMTOP is set to 39999 so the machine code won't be wiped. Your own program must be below line 5000. One important thing to remember is that you MUST INCLUDE A LINE 5000 (normally a STOP statement). Otherwise the compiler will crash.

Have fun!
