                     MAINZEL, 1997 by Michael Rau.

(1) BACKGROUND

Sitting many hours in front of my computer I had a problem.
I was only seldomly willing to save my work on disk. Therefore
it happend from time to time that all the important work was
irretrieveably lost when some files crashed.

I was looking for a fast and structured backup program.
If you know a good one, please contact me.

Hanging around with this problem I wrote MAINZEL Backup.

MAINZEL Backup stores the files in archives. It copies the
original directory structure with one archive in every backup
directory. Furthermore PKZIP compresses the files. All the
archives can therefore be processed with other programs like
    Winzip etc.

If you delete files in the original directory, MAINZEL Backup
either keeps the files in the archive, also excludes them or
stores them in a different archive.

(2) MAINZEL.INI

MAINZEL Backup has to be configured before running. You have to
inform the program about the locations of the following files

    a) where is PKZIP
    b) where is PKUNZIP
    c) where is your (DOS) VIEWER (i.e. EDIT.COM)

(3) USAGE

It is easy to use MAINZEL Backup. Start the program without
any options to get a brief help about availble options.
    See also EXAMPLE.LIS.

Use and distribute MAINZEL Backup. It is freeware. But no
guarantees are given for the integrity of the archives.

Comments/feedback on MAINZEL Backup are welcome
