Tipsy 0.3.1

Here is a quick overview on how to use Tipsy.

-- Adding Tip Rates and Tax Rates --

When you first use Tipsy, there will not be any
tip rates or tax rates entered in for you. Press the menu
button, and click on the "Rates" menu. You will find menu
items that will allow you to enter these rates in, and delete
the currently selected one.

Once you've entered in the rates, you can choose which
one to use by selecting it in the pop-up list in the lower center
of the main Tispy screen.

-- Totaling Up the Bill --

Enter each item on the bill, one by one. For each item,
choose which person ("diner") ordered that item first. You do
this by clicking on the pop-up list in the upper left corner of
the main Tipsy screen. At first, you start out with just "You."
You can add more diners by choosing "Add Diner" in the list. A
new diner will be added and selected.

Then, enter in the dollar amount where it says "Item Amt:",
above the "Add" and "Split" buttons in the upper right. After
you have entered the amount, press the "Add" button to add the
item to the list. That amount will appear in the list to the
left. If you make a mistake, highlight the amount and press
the "Del" button to delete that item.

Each time an item is added, the currently selected diner's
total and the overall total will be updated. These are shown on
the lower half of the screen. They are:

Food	-	the sub total of all the entered amounts

Tip	-	the tip amount based on the subtotal
(this may include the tax if you turn this
			option on)

Tax	-	the tax amount based on the subtotal

Total	-	the sum of the above three items

When you are done, or when you need to start over on a new
bill, select "Reset" from the "Session" menu, to clear all the
diners and items, and reset the amounts to $0.00.

Reset does not delete your tip and tax rates, nor does it
erase your names out of the Diner Database. These need to be deleted
individually. Alternately, you can delete everything and start fresh
by deleting Tipsy and reinstalling.

-- Splitting Items --

When you have multiple items on your bill that are the same
price and have been lumped together into one item, you can use the
split tool to divide up that amount.

An example would be when five of you have ordered drinks,
and the bill just shows "5 @ $6.75". So how much were those drinks,
anyway? You don't need to figure it out, just enter in $6.75 and press
the "Split" button.

On the split screen, choose the people who ordered
the drinks, by clicking on their entry in the list on the left. If you
click on "You", it will turn into "--> You". The "-->" arrow signifies
that that person has been selected.

You can add more diners here, or press the "Select All" to
select everyone. Once you have the appropriate people selected, press
"Ok."

Once back at the main screen, each person you selected will have
an item entered in with the appropriate amount, in this case, $1.35.

In the case where the amount does not divide equally, the person
highest in the list who is sharing the amount will make up the difference.
For example, if Diner 1, Diner 2 and Diner 3 split a $10 amount, Diner 1
ends up owing $3.34, and Diner 2 and 3 owe $3.33.

-- Diner Database --

The diner database is used to give the diners custom names, in
situations where "Diner X" may be too confusing. Press the "Diner DB"
button on the main screen to bring up the Diner Database.

First, you need to add some names into the database. Enter a name
in the field below where it says "Add New Name", and then press the "Add"
button. The name will appear in list on the right side of the screen.
Repeat this as necessary to add up to 32 names into the database.

To assign names to your diners, highlight the diner to be named in
the list on the left hand side, and select the name you want to give the
diner in the list on the right. Press the "<--" button in between the lists
to assign the name, and the name will appear in the list on the left.

Select "Add Diner" in the list on the left if you need another diner
to assign a name to.

An important thing to remember is that the first name in the list on
the right is assumed to be your name, and will be used instead of "You" for
the first diner when you reset.

You can adjust how your names appear in the list on the right by
selecting a name and then pressing either of the "^" or "v" buttons. These
will move the name up or down, respectively. This allows you add your own
name, and move it to the top of the list, or to rearrange the names to your
liking.

If you decide you don't need a name any longer, you can select the
name and press the "Del" button. This will delete that name from the database.
If that name is currently assigned to a diner, the diner will continue to have
that name until your session ends.

-- Preferences --

Select "Preferences" under "Options" on the menu to change Tipsy's global
options.

Include tax in tip?	-	When this is enabled, the tip amount is
					calculated by multiplying the tip
percentage with the food subtotal plus tax.
