About ShiftHack

Does your Pilot capitalize letters when you don't want it to? Tired of
shifting up three times to turn off auto-capitalization? Want caps-lock to
stay on as long as you want it to, even during editing?

ShiftHack gives control over shifting back to you.

ShiftHack is a HackMaster-compatible shareware module that eliminates
auto-capitalization, and maintains your chosen shift-state between
applications (including the built-in apps). It's tightly-coded, efficient,
and compatible with all Pilots up to and including the PalmPilot
Professional.

- What ShiftHack Does

Under normal circumstances, the Palm OS will watch your Graffiti input, and
change the shift-state to anticipate the capital at the beginning of a
sentence. If you're like me, you find that this is more hindrance than
help, as you frequently wish to switch it off, which takes multiple shifts.
Also, if you're in caps-lock mode, auto-capitalization drops you out of it.

ShiftHack eliminates this auto-capitalization, leaving you free to change
the shift-state as you please.

- Requirements and Installation

ShiftHack occupies less than 1K of your Pilot's RAM.

ShiftHack is a HackMaster module, and as such requires DaggerWare's
excellent HackMaster system extender, available as shareware from
<http://www.daggerware.com>. Please consult the DaggerWare's documentation
as regards HackMaster's installation and operation.

After HackMaster is installed on your Pilot, use your Pilot Desktop software
to install shfthk11.prc, just as you would install any other Pilot program.
ShiftHack can then be enabled from HackMaster's main panel. No
configuration is required.

- Registration

ShiftHack is shareware, and can be purchased from
<http://www2.viaweb.com/pilotgearsw/nealbridges.html> for $5 US.
Registered users are entitled to technical support, free e-mail updates,
and my thanks.

The copy of ShiftHack provided here is not limited in any manner. It
doesn't nag, and won't expire.
