Installation
1) BEFORE DOING ANYTHING, ensure that your PalmPilot
system password is either unassigned, or that you know what it is set to.
A PalmPilot that has been locked by Commander is secure, and unless you
know the password, there is no way to gain access to the machine without
performing a hard-reset.
2) Delete any any conflicting applications. Commander
should not be run with :

Commander Lite
3) Install Commander using HotSync Install, or your
preferred application installation method.
4) The .pdb file provided in this distribution is
an example database, containing an example configuration. If you are NOT
upgrading from a previous version of Commander, install the .pdb file.
5) Upon installation, Commander will prompt you to
activate the application, causing a soft reset. Select "OK". If you only
wish to view Commander, and not use it fully, select "Cancel" - doing this
will not enable all of Commander's functionality, but will allow you to
explore some of its features.
Version Upgrade
1) Ensure that you know your system password.
2) De-activate commander. Launch Commander/Commander
Lite, and select the 'Install' menu option under 'Options'. Uncheck the
'Activated' checkbox, and tap 'OK'. Select 'OK' in the popup warning, to
reset your pilot.
3) Install the new version of Commander, or Commander
Lite. DO NOT install the example database (.pdb file), unless you wish
to overwrite your current Commander settings with those in the example
database.
4) Activate Commander. Launch Commander/Commander
Lite, and select the 'Install' menu option under 'Options'. Check the 'Activated'
checkbox, and tap 'OK'. Select 'OK' in the popup warning, to reset your
pilot.
Upgrading from Commander
Lite to Commander
1) Ensure that you know your system password.
2) De-activate Commander. Launch Commander Lite,
and select the 'Install' menu option under 'Options'. Uncheck the 'Activated'
checkbox, and tap 'OK'. Select 'OK' in the popup warning, to reset your
pilot.
3) Install the new version of Commander, or Commander
Lite. If you have been running a version of Commander Lite prior to v1.0,
you will need to replace the Commander database with the example database
- Install the .pdb file. Note that this will overwrite any Commander Lite
settings that are in force.
4) Activate Commander. Launch Commander, and select
the 'Install' menu option under 'Options'. Check the 'Activated' checkbox,
and tap 'OK'. Select 'OK' in the popup warning, to reset your pilot. |
