Miscellaneous problems

There are a number of problems still outstanding, including further work on startup commands, and one or two incompatibilities with other applications. Please email with any details you have on bugs. 

PalmOS 3.0

Further features will be added to provide a complete solution under PalmOS3. There are a number of outstanding PalmOS3-specific problems with the current release. Specifically : 

• Some screens are occasionally corrupted, or displayed with a black background. This appears to be a screen update failure in the Commander code. 

Testing has not been performed with Flash installed versions of Commander, although reports suggest that Commander can run from Flash RAM. Testing will be performed. 

Faster Lock startup

Commander can take some time to start, displaying the previously running application whilst it is starting. This annoyance will be alleviated in future releases. 

Multiple versions of Applications

Commander will currently display multiple versions of applications in the Launcher, where it should show only the latest version. 

Preferences

A number of Commander behaviours should be configurable, for example: 

• When dragging an application to the viewbar, either copy or move it. 
• When running Commander, the Applications soft button either returns to the previously running application, or cycles through the views. 

A number of features will be added to the Commander owner panel, including Cut/Copy/Paste, a choice of font, and a 'Center text' option. Additionally, the default first-time install action will be to copy the existing 'owner' information from the system (PalmOS 2.0 +) 

Private Records Selection at Startup

Check-In has a Hide/Show selector on the main password-entry screen. Commander provides a similar facility in the Welcome screen - simply entering a password will 'Show' private records. This will be made more explicit with the addition of a 'Hide/Show' gadget on both the Welcome, and Lock screens. 

Plug-in ShortCut Commands

The range of ShortCut commands currently available is limited. Future versions will provide an interface for 3rd party plug-in ShortCut commands. 

TealGlance

TealGlance will run with Commander. If the TealGlance 'Active when Locked' option is set, TealGlance will display before entering a password. If the option is not set, a Commander startup command may be defined to run the TealGlance, or CallGlance applcation. No further work is planned. 

Reset menu

A menu option to soft-reset the Pilot will be added. 

Application Details

A number of additional options could be added to the application details panel, such as a database backup bit checkbox, etc. 

Size

Although Commander does a surprising amount for the space it takes, it is not a small application. Since some major new features are planned, work is underway to reduce Commander's size.

Palm III Application Fuctionality

Functions to delete and beam applications will be added to implement full Palm III functionality.
