Linking Porfolio Manager with Assets Manager
--------------------------------------------

1.	Why linking up?

Portfolio Manager is used to manage your investment portfolio while Assets
Manager is an accounting software to monitor all accounts (assets, liability,
income and expense). When linking up these two software, cash account can be
credit/debit and stock account can monitor the value of stocks automatically,
investment information can be reflected in the Accounting system so
you can have a much better view on your financial status.
Personally, I use and enjoy this feature very much.

2.	Installation

- switch to other program (like Memopad), ie don't lock them
- install Assets Manager and Portfolio Manager
- activate two programs one by one so that databases can be created

- hotSync once so that databases will be backup automatically,
If you want to play safe, I recommend you to save a copy of the files
(PortfolioMDB, PortfolioTDB, AssetsMDB, AssetsTDB located at usually
  c:\pilot\[yourusername]\backup)

This step is for security only.

3.	Setup the Assets Manager

- You should have two A/C used by Portfolio Manager

The first one may be a cash/bank A/C etc (money will be withdrawn from or
deposit to when buy/sell stock), this is the "A/C Credit from".

The second one is an assets A/C to monitor the value and P/L of the stock,
this is the "A/C Debit to".

4.	Setup the Portfolio Manager

In the preference screen:

enter the "Cr from A/C name" e.g. Bank
enter the "Dr to A/C name" e.g. Stock

5.	Transaction Posting

When you buy a stock $1000, the system will deduct $1000 from the Bank
and Value of the portfolio will be updated to the Stock A/C.

When you sell a stock $1000, the system will add $1000 to the Bank
and Value of the portfolio will be updated to the Stock A/C.

In addition, you see the transactions in the Assets Manager (non-editable) and
Value, Profit and Loss in the A/C details screen.

Note that you cannot delete the transactions in Assets manager, you should
use Portfolio manager to delete them and info will updated to Assets Manager
automatically.

6.	Fast Switching between two software

If you have two program installed, you will see a "right arrow" at the lower
right corner, click it will switch you to another program.

7.	Having problems

You can HotSync the original databases (the backup copy you made by your own,
better not the copy in the backup folder) to resume the old status.
