vCard for PalmPilot, v1.0
=========================

WHAT'S A VCARD?

A vCard is a standardized format for transfering personal information, like
that found on a business card. The standard was created by the versit
Consortium, consisting of IBM, AT&T, Apple, and Siemens. The standard has
since been transfered to the Internet Mail Consortum at "www.imc.org".

WHAT IS VCARD FOR PALM PILOT?

vCard for PalmPilot is a utility to automatically import vCard files (*.vcf)
into the PalmPilot Desktop. It can be run as a stand-alone utility, where
you can select inividual files to import, or you can create a file association
with the extension ".vcf". If you create a file association, you can import
vCards from the Internet with a single click, and from 95's explorer by double
clicking on a local file.

INSTALLATION

Just copy the files PVCARD.EXE, PVCARD.INI, and SENDKEYS.DLL to a directory.
I recommend that you create and use the directory C:\PILOT\VCARD. That's it!

If you installed the Pilot desktop some other place than C:\PILOT, you'll need
to edit the INI file.

The first time you double click on a .VCF file, you'll need to create a file
association with PVCARD.EXE. If you're using Windows 95, follow these steps:
 - From Explorer, double click on a .VCF file
 - An "Open With" window will appear. Click on the "Other" button.
 - A browse window will appear. Find and select PVCARD.EXE
 - Click on the "OPEN" button.
 - Click on OK to accept the new association.

TROUBLESHOOTING

vCard for Pilot works by reading the VCF file, and creating a Pilot Desktop
import file. Next it launches the Pilot Desktop if isnt already running.
Lastly it simulates the key presses needed to import the file. If your
computer is too slow to launch the Pilot Desktop, the key presses may be sent
too soon, and not work. There are two ways to fix this. Load Pilot Desktop
first, or adjust the PVCARD.INI file. The entry "LaunchDelay" is how long
the program should wait between launching the desktop and when to send the
keys. 1000 is one second. The default setting is 2000, for 2 seconds.

If you don't have a C:\TEMP directory, you may have trouble running PVCARD.
You can create that directory, or you can change the temp file location in
the PVCARD.INI file.
