Sometimes it is possible that you got double or more entries of the same record in your built-in standard applications Address Book, Date Book, ToDo List and Memo Pad. Or you wish to delete all entries in your datebook from the begin of the year to the mid of the year. Or you will delete a whole category in your ToDo List. Or you will delete the whole Memo Pad.
With the functions of the built-in applications that is all not possible.
But with DelTool you can do that and more.
DelTool is a delete tool for the 4 standard built-in applications of the PalmPilot Organizer. It can search for double or more entries of the same record and delete them, it can delete all records of a specified category or all records in a database. It can delete a date range in the datebook. You can select different switches to change the behaviour by searching or deleting.
It is also possible to transfer in a application all entries of a category to another category.
It is tested with PalmOS 2 and 3.

Above you see the main window of DelTool. Here you select all search and delete options and starts the search and deletion.
In the top line of the screen are the category trigger for the 4 standard applications. These trigger belongs to the following applcations (read from left to right): Address Book, Date Book, ToDo List, Memo Pad.
With the four application buttons you can start the search and deletion. After starting a search the text of the button changes to 'Searching...'.
The checkboxes
Find&Remove: This is the master button for deletion. Only if this is checked the program will delete records. Otherwise it only searches.
Ignore Categ.: Ignore the category of the records when searching.
Delete All: Deletes all data out of the specified application or category (but only if Find&Remove is checked).
Really remove: If this is not checked, the record will only be marked as deleted. They will really removed after the next hotsync.
Exact search: If this is checked then all data will be compared, otherwise only the most important.
The most important in the Address Book are: name, firstname and company.
The most important in the Date Book are: date, description, starttime.
The most important in the ToDo List are: description.
Categ: If this checkbox is marked all other checkboxes are invalid. Now it is possible to change all entries of a category of one application to another category. Therefore you have at first to choose the "Source-Category" with the above mentioned category selection. After tapping the application button the category selection opens automatically again so that you can choose the "New Category". After the conversion the number of converted entries is shown in the field "NoOf Recs".
The fields
No of Recs:The numer of records in the specified application or the number of records of a category in the specified application.
Found: The number of records which matches the search criteria.
Selector trigger
NO Date (or Date OK): When you tap this trigger you can specify a date range in the following screen (see picture below) within DelTool should search and act in the datebook.
If you select OK the text of the selector trigger changes to Date OK and the range is active, otherwise the text is NO Date and the range is inactive.
The listbox at the bottom shows the found records in short form. A maximum of 50 records will be displayed.
For the Address Book is displayed: lastname, firstname
For the Date Book is displayed: Description: date
For the ToDo List is displayed: Description: Priority
For the Memo Pad is displayed: Note
You want to search for double (or more) entries in all categories in the Address Book
You want to delete all entries in the DateBook from 1 th March 1998 to 28th September 1998
You want to delete all entries in the MemoPad
You want to delete all entries in the ToDoList that are unfiled
