/Earthquake: Coincidence or a Corporate Oil Tragedy=3F/=20
By: Andrew Limburg
Independent Media TV
--------------------------------------------------------------------------=
---
Now I don't claim to be an expert on seismic activity, but there has=20
been a series of events which led up to the 9=2E0 earthquake of the=20
coast of Indonesia which can not be ignored=2E This all could be an=20
enormous coincidence, but one must look at the information and choose=20
for themselves whether there is anything to it=2E
On November 28th, one month ago, Reuters reported that during a 3 day=20
span 169 whales and dolphins beached themselves in Tasmania, an=20
island of the southern coast of mainland Australia and in New=20
Zealand=2E The cause for these beachings is not known, but Bob Brown, a=20=
senator in the Australian parliament, said "sound bombing" or seismic=20
tests of ocean floors to test for oil and gas had been carried out=20
near the sites of the Tasmanian beachings recently=2E
According to Jim Cummings of the Acoustic Ecology Institute, Seismic=20
surveys utilizing airguns have been taking place in mineral-rich=20
areas of the world's oceans since 1968=2E Among the areas that have=20
experienced the most intense survey activity are the North Sea, the=20
Beaufort Sea (off Alaska's North Slope), and the Gulf of Mexico;=20
areas around Australia and South America are also current hot-spots=20
of activity=2E
The impulses created by the release of air from arrays of up to 24=20
airguns create low frequency sound waves powerful enough to penetrate=20
up to 40km below the seafloor=2E The "source level" of these sound=20
waves is generally over 200dB (and often 230dB or more), roughly=20
comparable to a sound of at least 140-170dB in air=2E
According to the Australian Conservation Foundation, these 200dB -=20
230dB shots from the airguns are fired every few seconds, from 10=20
meters below the surface, 24 hours a day, weather permitting=2E
These types of tests are known to affect whales and dolphins, whose=20
acute hearing and use of sonar is very sensitive=2E
On December 24th there was a magnitude 8=2E1 earthquake more than 500=20
miles southeast of Tasmania near New Zealand, with a subsequent=20
aftershock 6=2E1 a little later in the morning that same day=2E
On December 26th, the magnitude 9=2E0 earthquake struck at the=20
intersection of the Australian tectonic plate and the India tectonic=20
plate=2E This is the devastating tragedy that we have all heard about=2E=20=
The death toll of this horrific event has reached 52,000 souls and=20
continues to rise=2E
On December 27th, 20 whales beached themselves 110 miles west of=20
Hobart on the southern island state of Tasmania=2E
What is interesting about this is that the same place where the whale=20
beachings have been taking place over the last 30 days is the same=20
general area where the 8=2E1 Australian earthquake took place, and this=20=
is the same area where they are doing these seismic tests=2E Then 2=20
days after the Australian tectonic plate shifted, the 9=2E0 earthquake=20
shook the coast of Indonesia=2E
A great deal of interest and seismic testing has been taking place in=20
this area, as the government of Australia has given great tax breaks=20
to encourage the oil exploration=2E
Many animals saved by the abilitys to pick up other signals than us=2E
We will be following up on this story as more information is gathered=2E

Dear Beloved,
I greet you in the Name of GOD.
I am MRS LAURA MYER from South Africa.I am married to
Late MR NELSON MYER of blessed memory who was an oil
explorer in Kuwait and Brunei for fifteen years before he
died in the year 2000.
We were married for twelve years without a child. He died
after a brief illness that lasted for only four days. Before
his death we were both devoted to our God and respect other
who serve him.Since his death, I too have been battling with
both Cancer and fibroid problems. When my late Husband was
alive he Deposited the sum of $18.5million (Eighteen
Million, Five Hundred thousand U.S Dollars) with a Deposit
Company in Europe.the money is deposited as Family
Valuables/Treasure for security reasons.
Recently, my doctor told me that I have only six months to
live due to my cancer problem, and this lead to a stroke
attack which bother me most though because I cannot move as
I use to.Having known my condition I decided to entrust this
fund to either a philanthropic organization or devoted
individual that will utilize this money the way I am going
to instructs herein.30% of the US$18.5million goes to you to
ensure that you are prepared for the task ahead, 60% of this
money will be used in all sincerity to fund philanthropic
organization, orphanages, widows and 5% will go to the
family Attorney who will prepare the Authorisation and the
balance 5% sent to me to at least prepare for my funeral and
off-set my medical bills.
I am taking this decision because I don't have any child or
devoted relations whose behavior has left much to be desired
while I am ill and above all I don't want a situation where
this money will be used in an UnGodly manner, hence this bold
decision.Since my health is Retrogressing by the minute, you
will have to send your POSTAL ADDRESS, CONTACT PHONE NUMBER
AND FAX and a little details about yourself, because I got your
address from the internet after a thorough search. As soon as
I receive this information from you I will make arrangement
to prepare the Authorization through the family Attorney for
you to get Possession of the Deposit. As soon as I receive
your reply and the authorization is given to you by me, I
will give you the name and contact of the Deposit company
where the money was Deposited in Europe, for claims to the
consignment.Until I hear from you, I pray that this letter
bring you and your family good tidings while my dreams to help
humanity rest squarely on your shoulders.
May the Almighty God continue to guide and protect you.
Remain Blessed,
MRS LAURA MYER.

I'm using pine 4.58, and I looked for this in the change logs since then,
and didn't see anything about it, so I assume it still exists in the
latest version.
I have some filter rules that move mail from my inbox into other folders.
While navigating the folder tree to find another folder, I had moved into
a subdirectory of my main foldre directory. At that time, an email arrived
that matched one of my filter rules to move the message. Pine then asked
me "Folder doesn't exist. Create (Y/n)?". When this happens,
if I say yes, it makes the folder in the current sub-directory and puts
the message in it. If I say no, it doesn't move the message. The
destination folder does indeed exist in the main folder directory, but not
in the subdirectory I was viewing at the time.
I believe this is a bug. The expected behavior was that the destination
folder would be located normally, even if I'm browsing a different folder
at the time.
I believe this behavior occurs only when I'm viewing a list of folders in
a subdirecory, not when I'm actually looking at the contents of a folder.
For example, if I have a directory called "old" in my main folder list,
and I navigate to it from the folder list, the filter can't move the
message, or creates the destination folder inside the "old" directory. If
I'm looking at the messages in one of the folders in the "old" directory,
the filter is correctly applied. So in Message view, it doesn't happen,
but in Folder list view, it does.
Hopefully that made some sense to someone?
Thanks,
Mac

It doesn't seem to be mentioned in the release notes, but we believe it is
fixed in pine 4.60 and later. Thanks.

Hi, All,
There has been a problem in the last several versions of
Pine, where reading messages in threads gets interrupted when mail is
re-sorted.
When re-sorting occurs, the display switches from the message
I'm reading to the message index.
This occurs in both Pine and PC-Pine.
My appropriate features and config settings:
feature-list=
show-cursor,
slash-collapses-entire-thread,
quell-imap-envelope-update,
show-sort,
sort-key=OrderedSubj
index-format=STATUS MSGNO SMARTTIME INIT SUBJECT(100%)
(Also occurs with default index format)
threading-display-style=mutt
threading-index-style=sep-auto
thread-sort-key=OrderedSubj
Thanks for any info/assistance you can offer.
I love using Pine. This is a minor
annoyance, but it'd be nice if it didn't happen.
I'm using 4.61 on a freeBSD shell account, and PC-Pine in win95.
