With issue 10, Scribble has assembled the best collection of varied
productions this reviewer has seen in quite some time, with some
some throws and freights tossed in for good measure. Here you'll
find page after page of vibrant, crisp, inspiring graff, all of
which is presented beautifully and on nice-n-shiny paper stock. Did
I mention the productions are unreal? The weakest point of this
sweet zine has always been its articles, and while this issue takes
a big step in the right direction, the written content still falls
well short of the expectations set by other upper-eschelon
publications such as 12 Ounce Prophet. Still, these are nits; while
the size of the photos could be increased a touch and the variety of
the graffiti artists could be widened a bit, Scribble is on the
whole a wonderful affair.

Settin' Tha Pace is a "with a little love and water" xeroxed affair
that reminds you what graffiti is supposed to be about: not big
business, but soul. One refreshing aspect of this zine is that the
editor has everything right and isn't afraid to voice his opinion.
However, the $64,000 question is: how is the graffiti? The best
answer is perhaps _gz_italicize("present.") In other words, there is
graffiti, and some of it is quite good, and if this were a
small-town zine, it would be sufficient. But this is really a San
Francisco zine, and as such, we want to be blown away. Also,
although improved from the first isuse, some photos still suffer
from the photocopied nature of this publication. The zine also
loses a few points for its "Chick Pics" section, which not only has
nothing to do with graffiti, but is callow and pointless: if we want
to look at chicks, we'll buy a copy of Elle.

quality of the photos is exceedingly high, which when mixed with
large prints and radiating colors means one can't help but get

clearly identified and include some high-profile artists like Cycle
and Hush, mixed with lesser-known artists from Indianapolis and the
midwest as a whole. Most of the graffiti presented has good
contrast and thus comes across despite the zine's photocopied
nature. For what it is, Wandering Minds does a solid job, although
it could benefit from a larger format and more varied and original
graffiti.

have a graffiti shop in Madrid. The magazine largely focuses on
Spain and NYC, although other locales are represented throughout the
magazine as well. Issue 2 features 123 walls, 127 trains, and 20 whole
cars from Spain, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, and the United States.
Issue 3, which is in full color, includes 3 pages from
NYC, 4 pages from Germany, and 2 pages from Holland among Spain's finest.

WDYTYD is a cool zine that covers the bombing scene (mainly in
California) with a nice low-key approach. Here you'll see many
pages of everything bombed: doors, dumpsters, sheds, and so forth,
all shown in an unassuming and fun way. Of course, there is also a
reasonable supply of freights, illegal walls and other more
large-scale graffiti undertakings, along with a couple of empty
pages in lieu of a centerfold for your personal use. If you love
the taste of city life, this zine will be a welcome pleasure.

While You Were Sleeping is a graffiti magazine out of
Maryland, featuring mostly East Coast graffiti, with a sprinkling
of miscellaneous graff from elsewhere. The zine itself is clean
and attractive, the graffiti is solid, and the flicks are sharp.
However, the editors' unquestionable preoccupation with sex and
exhibitionism bleeds through the pages a bit too heavily at times,
making it difficult for the reader to focus on the art. Hopefully
WYWS will mature, and we'll feel less like we were in a teenager's
bedroom, and more like we're among graffiti's up-and-coming legends.

Writer's Resource Guide features flicks from all around the eastern
and southern parts of the USA, including reprints of articles out of
larger mags and the popular media. The layout is nice and the
original text is witty. The zine keeps true to representing many
sides of the art and doesn't fall into only representing one crew or
city. Please note that subscriptions are no longer available.

Pages of high quality flicks of amazing graffiti from some of the
best artists anywhere. The magazine features few articles, leaving
plenty of room for some fantastic examples of graffiti at its
rawest. Coverage is pretty broad, including the United States,
Europe, and Australia on a regular basis. The price is quite high,
but it's worth the money to get one of Europe's best. Xplicit Grafx

This all-color graffiti zine, one of Canada's first, features some
fantastic graffiti from all over the world. The photos are great,
and in general the pieces themselves are excellent. While the
magazine has a few interviews, the main focus is on providing as many
quality flicks as possible, and it is a task Xylene succeeds at admirably,
although the density of the flicks could certainly be increased.

ZGB stands for Zagreb, which is a Croatian magazine featuring this
new and rising scene. This is a fabulous zine, featuring both the
evolving Croatian scene and graffiti from the rest of Europe and the
world over. The magazine is extremely professional, providing a
dazzling array of flicks from around the world, including some from
previously untapped parts of Europe. While ZGB Kaos is largely
flicks, there are articles on topics relevant to the graffiti
underground. As the Croatian scene gets more and more press, expect
to hear much more about ZGB Kaos in the future.
