Debian 2.0 Installation Disks

  This is a set of unoffical installation disks for the x86 version of
Debian 2.0 (hamm), which includes version 5.1.2 of the aic7xxx driver.
Hopefully this will make it easier for people who want to install
Debian, but are unable to boot off of the standard installation disks
due to the older driver version.

  Installation using this version should not be substantially more
difficult than with the official set.  You will need to download the
image-files for both the rescue and drivers disks, both of which have
two versions... 1.44Mb and 1.2Mb.  Just grab whichever set matches your
primary diskette drive.  In addition, you may need some other disk
images and/or utilities (base-disks, rawrite2.exe), depending upon the
installation media you intend to use.  All of these may be found at
Debian's ftp site, or it's mirrors.

  First, write both of the image-files to diskette.  Under Linux the
command would be something like "dd if=image-file.bin of=/dev/fd0",
under DOS/Windows it would resemble "rawrite2 -f image-file.bin -d a:".

  Boot off of your newly-created rescue disk, and begin the installation
per Debian's instructions.  The only deviation is when you are prompted
to "Install Operating System Kernel and Modules"... at that point, be
SURE to specify your diskette drive as the source, and give it this
version of the two disks as prompted.  Once that portion has been
completed, you can follow the normal instructions through the rest of the
procedure (using the installation-media of your choice).
