You might be able to use this information yourselves when you are asked for a copy. Please recall that the standard is copyrighted (the ANSI standard by ANSI, the ISO standard by ISO) and cannot be photocopied and given out (much less sold!). The ISO standard (ISO/IEC 9075:1992, "Information Technology --- Database Languages --- SQL") is currently (2 March, 1993) available and in stock from ANSI at: American National Standards Institute 1430 Broadway New York, NY 10018 USA Phone (sales): +1.212.642.4900 at a cost of US$230.00. The ANSI version (ANSI X3.135-1992, "Database Language SQL") is not yet available from stock, but is expected to be available in 3 (CBEMA's estimate) to 8 (ANSI Sales' estimate) weeks (e.g., by late March to early May, 1993). It expected to be be priced at US$225.00. If you purchase either document from ANSI, it will have a handling charge of 7% added to it (that is, about US$9.10). Overseas shipping charges will undoubtedly add still more cost. ANSI requires a hardcopy of a company purchase order to accompany all orders; alternately, you can send a check drawn on a US bank in US dollars, which they will cash and clear before shipping your order. If you prefer to order the standard in a more convenient and quick fashion, you'll have to pay for the privilege. You can order ISO/IEC 9075:1992, "Information Technology --- Database Languages --- SQL", from: Global Engineering Documents 2805 McGaw Ave Irvine, CA 92714 USA +1.714.261.1455 for a cost of US$308.00. I do not know if that includes shipping or not, but I would guess that international shipping would cost extra. They will be able to ship you a document fairly quickly and will even accept "major credit cards". Global does not yet have the ANSI version nor do they have a price or an expected date. The most recent version of the SQL3 (both ANSI and ISO) working draft is available by anonymous ftp (just verified by Amelia Carlson---THANKS, Amelia!) on: gatekeeper.dec.com at /pub/standards/sql/x3h2-93-091.ps (PostScript(R) version) and /pub/standards/sql/x3h2-93-091.txt (plain text version) It is my intent to post updated versions in that location as I publish them. Of course, the filespec will change and will generally correspond with the ANSI paper number. ISO-only versions of the document may occassionally exist; if so, then they will be posted under the ISO DBL RG number of the paper (e.g., YOK-003, if that were an ISO-only document). As new versions are published, the old versions will be deleted from that directory (disk space, you know!). I will not generally announce the posting of new versions; when you become aware of a new version (for example, when you get hardcopy in the mail), you can check the repository for the machine-readable. (Incidentally, for those who would like them, X3H2-93-081 and X3H2-92-082 (SQL CLI and SQL Stored Modules, respectively) are also available in both .PS and .TXT form at the same location and directory.) CBEMA will have the SQL3 working draft available for about US$60.00 to US$65.00. You can contact Lynn Barra at CBEMA (+1.202.626.5738) to request a copy. It is not yet clear whether CBEMA will continually revise the document that they have in stock as I publish new editions or if they will do so at more lengthy intervals. I hope this information helps you.
