I didn't take enough photos of interesting things being presented today but Ubuntu phone and #UBports has a special place in my heart. I was involved in the phone project and, together with the canonical certification team, shipped a complex testing app on this platform. It is amazing to see it alive and kicking in 2024 at the #UbuntuSummit.

State of desktop on Arm64 at the #UbuntuSummit.Unlike device-specific images, one image that works on all Snapdragon X Elite systems.Having been involved in #Linaro since day one, it is amazing to see how far Arm has gone as an architecture.

The wider arm ecosystem is still fractured by different firmware and hacks required to get things to boot and work. Things are better but we, as the developer community, are there yet.

None of those snaps are available for Arm64. This is a complex problem to solve.

Snap packages for arm and RISC packages have a long path to go. "There is room for us to improve"

@frameworkcomputer thank you for responding! Do I understand your message correctly that under gnome on, say, Fedora 41, 100% zoom is readable for a person wearing eyeglasses?I'm trying to decide between the 13" model with 2.8K screen and the 16" model. Any insight or FAQ link will greatly help.

@organicmaps The aspect few people seem to mention is that any infrastructure operated in a given country needs to adhere to the law of the land. What if it was hosted in Europe and someone from Russia or Belarus triggered a similar ban? Is the implementation bad and not transparent? Sure! Is this a problem of US and GitHub specifically? Not at all.Even when you host your own instance, men in black boots can kick your door and take you away along with your hardware.
