In August I ordered a #Librem52020: I decide to write my own photography planning app because this is the only Android app I use where no Linux alternative exists2021: #GTK4 is released and I started with the development of the current app2022: #PicPlanner Version 0.1.0 is released on #Flathub π₯³ https://flathub.org/apps/details/de.zwarf.picplanner

#PicPlanner:Version 0.2.0 is on it's way.I made a few changes to the UI.It is possible to change date and time from every view now.Furthermore, the UI is much better scalable now. So all Linux smartphone users should have no problems anymore with these fixes.I also fixed some other strange UI behavior.I will make some more tests and then I will make my second Flatpak release.https://gitlab.com/Zwarf/picplanner/-/commit/f3b1967c344e169ea9226e2f2cb82414efc0c44c#GTK4 #Gnome #Flatpak #Flathub #Programming #OpenSource #Libadwaita

@devrtz I have also issues currently with switching to newer versions of libgweather and geocode-glib in the Flatpak. It seems like they are not compatible currently. π€I think there is also a problem with libsoup-3 here. But I really don't get the problem.I think waiting is the only solution, isn't it?

#PicPlanner version 0.3.0 is on Flathub! πβΊMy last main goal on my to-do list is also checked. PicPlanner can now find the users location with GPS by clicking the location button.Furthermore, I added German as language. If you want to have PicPlanner in your preferred language just write me or translate the language file if you know how.My next plan is to improve the search functionality. Especially because the code of this part is pretty ugly π

@devrtz I think the problem is solved now.Version 0.3.1 compiles with Debian Testing. Maybe you could try it again? π€ https://gitlab.com/Zwarf/picplanner/-/releases/v0.3.1

@ademalsasa KeePassXC in combination with #Syncthing is a dream. You do not need a cloud but all your devices are still synchronized.

After reading all these comments about the #SteamDeck here on #Mastodon I finally decided to buy one too. I haven't played games since 2015 and I only start again because I am able to do it on #Linux with support for #Flatpak.Which also means the Steam Deck is #PicPlanner approved! πSwitch to desktop mode, start the KDE store, search for PicPlanner, press install.I would have never guessed to see PicPlanner on a gaming console π

@boilingsteam I think the problem is not the hardware it is the optimization of the games that need to improve.A lot of games need an insane amount of resources for nothing.Example: Horizon Zero Dawn runs smoothly on medium to high settings with 30 FPS except you enter a new area then the frames drop by 75% for around two seconds.GTA 5 in general is an optimization disaster even though it is years old.Kena Bridge of spirits is a deck verified game but is also purely optimized

@boilingsteam I developed PicPlanner as a hobby project. It is an app to calculate the position of the sun moon and milky way. The idea is to have an app which helps photographers figuring out the perfect time and location for a picture of the sunset for example. It is available via Flathub therefore it runs on the Steam Deck out of the box π

@boilingsteam I think it isn't that much of a niche. Similar apps on the Google Play store have around 100k to 1m downloads and cost around 10$. I used such an app before but I am not using Google services anymore therefore I started to write this app π

@boilingsteam Both π Currently I am using a custom ROM but only as long as it takes until my Librem 5 arrives πThis is also the reason why I wrote this app for GNU Linux and not for Android.

@boilingsteam I ordered in August 2019 πI mainly ordered to support the software development and I think Purism is doing a great job on this side.If I am happy with the Librem 5 when it arrives I don't think that I will also by a Pinephone Pro.

@boilingsteam I have no gaming PC at all. The last time I played Video games was 2017 I think. I only started to play games again because of the Steam Deck π

This week I will be on a conference in Italy only using the #Librem5.The last few weeks with the L5 gave me enough confidence that I think this should work. Thanks to the lockscreen PDF plugin train and conference tickets are quickly accessible, all my email accounts from work I can access with Geary and the camera is good enough to take notes of some slides.
