@thomholwerda If noise is not an issue, old servers are a better choice. Or a Huananzi motherboard with a Xeon and plenty of ECC memory.

@aral Easier to ignore facts when you don't have to confront directly with Russia and you don't share a border on the same way EU do. If someone would bring war in North America things would be different.

@aral I wrote something like this a couple of times here. People don't understand that there is no need for cookie banners for the technically necessary cookies the website need to function, only for the optional shit that usually is tracking. And that those banners are full of dark patterns, made to annoy users so they click on "agree to all".

@aral That for work problem is not a small one. Unfortunately docx is the standard for text documents and everyone is expecting you read and write it without problems. Also, the Microsoft subscription for families is really cheap when on discount, making cloud alternatives not competitive even for individuals.

@aral Ouch. I'm sorry you had to let Linux go for now. If I had more money I would like to buy a Framework laptop with it but probably will settle with a cheap Lenovo and Windows (I usually keep my hardware around for lot of years and need Windows for CAD/CAM software 🤷) But I will experiment with Mint on the old laptop.
