@niconiconi that looks like it would work great until the end of the first programming pulse on the first byte, when the programmer does a read to see if all the 0s are there yet.

@niconiconi the programming docs i've seen for eproms say to pulse write-enable and then read back until you see what you want, then write X times longer than it took to first see the desired value. that seems problematic in this setup.

@foone @thejpster according to us patent 5920734, a prior art system has power come from 232 rts or ps/2 power, gnd from the obvious, and the adapter loops ps/2 clk back to ps/2 data so the mouse knows what to do; in the novel system, part of the power comes from txd (negative) or one of the ps/2 pins (positive), and the improvement is that the 232 adapter doesn't need to short any lines together

@foone they explicitly forbade all but A-plug-to-some-sort-of-B-plug cables (specifically not A-plug-to-A-receptacle), and i know that didn't work because we have crap that needs an A-plug-to-A-plug cable to go to the A-receptacle-to-A-receptacle panel feedthrough.

@foone having used some embedded targets at work with a 1G ethernet port and a 0.0001152G usb serial port, i know which one i prefer
