It is all about who pays for the pollution they help create. This is what they fear most.Industry doesn't help much either, as the increased use of oil-based synthetic materials in all industrial products that have a designed and planned short life-span and impossibility of repair.You can fix and drive a 60s vehicle better than one made 10y ago and keep it for another 60 years. A 10y vehicle is sentenced to rot in a scrap pile on soil. EVs are much worse, to toxic to recycle!@rms

If you mention such things in high-tech research labs in a high profile university they will have you arrested as a public enemy!Even in social science they may, like social psychology, behavioral, experimental, sociology of social control, etc.But morally they are doing it for "science" and the benefit of humanity!Part of the salary of research academics is payed by grants! @aral
