See an example of a Zonelets blog, the author's own, done with free hosting at Neocities.org.Her tutorials and videos are well done, there's a number of simple to use Themes, and it's functional - all you need is a bit of html editing, simple things, to create a page, and a free Neocities.org account to put it online.https://zonelets.net/index.htmlI use Write.Freely for my blogs and love it, but with this one you can do things I can't -- like use some simple javascript, adding a custom search engine just for your blog, or add Discus comments if you like.Recommended. Nice work.

Pinafore makes Nomad Living a joyAdding one more to the list. 17 in it, https://cdrom.tokyo/ joins at no. 18 spot. 😎Many thanks to @nolan for the wonderful #fediverse #client that #Pinafore is. The BEST, ask your geeky friends.Speed, lightness. Functional and elegant Design. Free, not in your face design impositions. No freeking character limits, Pina allows use of whatever your instance allows.AND -- it also accepts #MarkDown posts, which are joy for me as a Writer and content producer.Same client, visits mastodon, or GlitchSocial, or Pleroma, or Misskey instances. All without leaving the same screen.Power user? You can run multiple copies - side by side, each tab a different instance.Won't I get confused or lost, where am I?[ to be continued, next ]

@resynth1943 If you're currently on mastodon.social, consider switching to another instance. That is a good suggestion, as m.s. is not a good instance in most cases, my opinion.By doing so, you're helping to defeat the current centralisation of power under that instance. The sheer size of m.s. is used for Eugen so he can work with scaling Mastodon to very large sizes, something that could happen if the platform grew. But there are so many instances open for sign ups -- many with much nicer communities, smaller sizes, a live and friendly Local feed (not a firehose blast like at m.s.).Suggestion -- consider Glitch-Social and Pleroma instances as they DO offer better features compared to the plain Mastodon instances.Pleroma explained : https://write.tedomum.net/rgx/discover-pleromaAnd a listing of Glitch-Social instances : https://write.tedomum.net/rgx/a-glitch-social-fediverse-instances-list

@SpaceToWaste I have heard that Fedilab client can do it, but haven't seen or tested myself. This is something Twitter is clearly ahead of Mastodon on - their translate on demand works well.

@rgx @koyu , maybe you can add some wider screen format support to the mastoFE web client? Some ideas on post above, although they are suggestions for Pinafore, they might work with mastoFE, maybe? Content display column at about 50% of screen width, and 80 em setting, is what I am thinking.Thank you!

Installing a PWA app locally - SUPER EasyI had read a bit about this, and tried, to get a local copy of Pinafore fediverse client. With NodeJS and Nativefier, it works in some cases, but didn't for Pinafore in my case.Tried again to find a solution and just discovered this page - and it worked, it's super simple, no NodeJS or black magic neeed. Really.I am writing this via my Developer branch Pinafore client, installed from https://dev.pinafore.social/(the regular, stable version is homed at https://pinafore.social/ )How to do it ?Read the article and get it installed - only caveat is you will need a Chrome family browser to do it (not the dreaded Google Chrome spyware). I suggest Bravo browser, which I recently started using and am quite impressed by. Or the new Chromium based version of Microsoft Edge, which is quite good too.Seriously, it takes no effort at all.Article is here : https://www.androidheadlines.com/how-to-download-install-progressive-web-apps-pwa-google-chrome.htmlRecommended reading. #pwa #chromium #webapp #pinafore

Fediverse instance RAM use?A quick comparison, since I am researching new and better browser to use. Bravo is doing really well, surprisingly.Pinafore client, in one PWA saved tab. Using 83 MB to have koyu.space loaded.Mastodon default web client, opening a mastodon instance in a Bravo tab. Using 109 MB for itself. For comparison purposes, other frequent programmes I use:Slowly app for pen pals; running from their server, as a web client. Using 94 MB.And Reddit, via their modern design site, where I am regular user, taking 120 MB for one single tab open.#Pinafore rules. #GlitchSocial is the best #mastodon, no doubts. #MarkDown, do you have it? Koyu.space does. See above. πŸ‘πŸ˜œπŸ™‚

@koyu Good to know it's still alive. We need alternatives. If only LG would use the WebOS which they now own, having purchased it from Palm, Inc.That was a really lovely Opsys.

@Rasp Looking good, nice one. I also bought one like it when I spotted on the local free classifieds for low price. They are beastly heavy and big, but real neat hardware.Well done, enjoy. Plus, the blinkenlights. πŸŒŸπŸ™‚βœ¨β„πŸ˜œπŸ˜€
