Aurora 20230423One of the biggest and best aurora displays I've seen. Sunset turned to twilight and the clouds dispersed on cue right as the display exploded, more than filling the field of view even at 8mm (12mm-e) on my ultrawide lens - pillars and rays stretching up past Polaris even to the zenith. The Broich YewAn awesome tree - about 900yr old, rightly listed in Heritage Trees of Scotland. Yew trees propagate by layering - branches extend out down to the ground, take root and forming a new tree. Spooky.Yews are highly toxic - everything apart from the red flesh of the berries contains cardiotoxic taxines. Historically, longbows would be made from yews and their manufacturers had a shorter life expectancy from handling the wood.#yew #layering #tree #photography #scotland #botany

Top of the TriangleClouds swirling around the top of Schiehallion, taken from across Loch Rannoch.In 1774 it was used in the famous Maskelyne/Mason experiment, to measure Newton's gravitational constant, G. @stfn Exactly so. Ignore the hype and run the open technology local and private. Another form of interaction I'm exploring atm, related to summarizing: you can go far with the idea of directory-of-markdown as knowledge database. Use Obsidian or VS Codium as a frontend, a clipper plugin in $BROWSER and ollama becomes a query engine. RSS feeds, fields of research, former attempts at running a blog, you name it. All potential input.#LLM #geek
