@hakfoo I'm actually messing with the BIOS atm and was thinking of trying to use XT-IDE if I can get the JMPs figured out as another possible solution to the hard coded disk geometry. BIOS screenshot of the 16MHz board for reference.

Ok #retrocomputing and #vintagecomputing time for a poll on restoring two Texas Instruments TravelMate 4000E laptops.A: DX2/50MHz is fully restored, minus a new NiCd pack.B: DX4/75MHz chassis is damaged/missing parts but otherwise fully functional.Should I swap the LCD and motherboard from the DX4/75MHz into the DX2/50MHz chassis?

Working on getting OpenStep 4.2 installed on physical hardware, so far the drivers hate all my IDE CD-ROM drives...

The driver seems to not like the GT versions of the Mach64 which is all I have in the Mach64 series sadly. Time to look at what cards I have that might also work.

The Panasonic CF-71 Toughbook is fully working minus a dead CMOS/primary battery and the CD-ROM not staying closed, but its fully functional. From the software on the HDD this was owned by the "San Diego Sheriffs Department". #retrocomputing #vintagecomputing

@mmu_man I wanted it to be quick access, not worried about dust as I swap out the disks fairly often depending on what I'm working on.

@jhx Single points of failure is bad practice for any data storage. I would a minimum of RAID 1 with two SSDs.
