@killyourfm So, setting aside, the privacy nightmare that is Windows and speaking specifically to functionality, why would a copilot be a bad thing? I would like to see this added to Linux. I am new to using ChatGPT but at present, I love it. I've solved a few problems that would have meant hours to days of internet searching and forum support otherwise. AI has at the least made me more self sufficient as a Linux daily driver for personal use.Think about it from the standpoint of how many support and bug requests, or pull requests simply won't happen because now you have an AI helping you. It can be a force multiplier. Now, in reference to privacy, I don't know if the Linux community in general might need to develop our own AI solution or leverage OpenAI / ChatGPT.I'd like your opinion when you have time. Also, unrelated, just bought a Steam Deck for Wifey. Looking for cool open world games we could play together if we hook up to a big screen. Would like some ideas.

@killyourfm No rush. Youre busy making Thunderbird beautiful. That's way more important. Thanks for all you do.

Can anyone give an idea (however much of a rough estimate) of the cost of running an instance of Mastodon? Like bandwidth, effort in managing etc. I want to see how much it costs to create an open space for people to be social in this format without confirming to the constraints of commercial social media platforms. The idea came from reading about how popular app Apollo is going commercial likely ahead of an IPO which will likely destroy the business model. I understand both sides but I’m trying to wrap my head around overall operating costs.

@sowth thanks much. I will research these. I wasn’t personally looking to host but I was interested to understand what drives the cost of hosting other than just pure bandwidth and storage. Also. I wasn’t clear above, I meant that the cost to Apollo following through with the Reddit API pricing changes coming will likely destroy the Apollo business model. Although one might argue they shouldn’t have built an app based on the good will of another organization permitting them to use an API. As we have seen, people change their minds. Organizations more so. Ill look at these. Thanks.
