@seldo this is a great post! I like the framing a lot.

@seldo the short answer is that there are many great games if you know where to find them, but it does take a bit of work. Apple Arcade is a great option.

@misty oh no, sorry to hear that!Idk what roles we have open right now, but I'm in Developer Platform at Stripe and your experience sounds like a good overlap with our work! There's also an internal developer productivity team that's great. I'd check out https://stripe.com/jobs and let me know if anything catches your eye!

@simon brew is preferred, but pipx is great for things not big enough to be there. I do prefer local installs for project-specific tools (like pytest, where I just have many copies of it on my computer). But for general purposes utilities that happen to be written in Python, pipx is perfect.

@simon LLMs are much more obviously useful, sure. The reason they (rightfully) draw comparisons is the level of hype and product adoption they're seeing, seemingly overnight. Before, tons of companies were adding crypto to their brand or product. Now, every SaaS under the sun has the phrase "AI Powered" somewhere on their landing page (regardless of how useful that is for the product). I think LLMs are here to stay in a different way, but I understand the comparison.

@mina @drgeraint right? Reading code is hard! That's actually part of why I take the time to clean up and explain all of my solutions. Doing that helps me practice wiring better code and makes it easier for other people to read and understand. Win/win!https://advent-of-code.xavd.id

Day 5 of #AdventOfCode! https://advent-of-code.xavd.id/writeups/2024/day/5Sometimes, using #Python really feels like cheating, and today is one of those days.
