@Gargron My take: it's not a game, it's a thing you do with cards to bet on. So without real money, or if as in my case gambling doesn't work for your brain, you'eve missing the essential piece and it's just weird and flat and boring.

@aphyr We stayed in touch a good long while afterwards, but have since drifted apart. I should fix that! I remember she took me to the revival of Assassins at Studio 54, before I had any idea who Neil Patrick Harris was.

@emacsen I have never managed to keep up shaving for more than a week at a time in my life. Every once in a while I think "I could be clean-shaven for a change!" and then forget and it's back to beard. I like approximately zero about shaving, myself, though the one time I got a straight-razor shave it was delightful.
