       @ZachWeinersmith The consistency is power. Each group wants to be able to dictate to "others", and never dictated "to". They are all comfortable making common cause, because "everyone they know" is on their side. As long as the goal is met (an unfair system), they are sure that their superiority will ensure that they are on top.
