       I just got targeted by an extremely sophisticated phishing attack. They knew my name, address, and card number and claimed to be from the ANZ fraud department.

       The whole thing hinges on them already having your name, address, and card details due to another compromise - and they use those details to build credibility. At first it sounds like a legit fraud check.

       They ask you about a fraudulent transaction. When you say it wasn't authorized, they claim to have refunded it and cancelled your card - and they'd like to just check your other accounts for fraud.

       Their goal is to get you to transfer as much as possible into the account associated with your card so that they can steal it using the card details they already have - and then convince you to read them the number from the "confirmation text" - actually their fraud attempt.
