@otyugh Je comprend la volonté de faire une analogie, mais notons qu'un hochet est un jouet et non un jeu. (ça n'est pas très agréablement tourné pour les gens du métier)Pour le pourquoi du comment, ça me semble assez simple: jouer à un jeu est une fin en soi, si l’ergonomie est déplaisante, il perd beaucoup de son intérêt. Un outil mal fichu rempli une fonction autre, qui justifie son existence.Les budgets ne sont donc pas alloué pareil.

@realcaseyrollins @abhijith @dwaltiz Coopetition is a normal process in free (as in free speech) software. It only work sanely with other free software, as majoritarian adoption of closed tool lead to monopoly and destroy the users freedom to choose.Admins are diverse and humans, it's pretty sure some have hideous power hungryness, but it's a very strange default assumption to make to such a diversity of legal status and people.

@realcaseyrollins @abhijith @dwaltiz I see the Fediverse moslty from the french-speaking point of view, and can't tell much about the english speaking ecosystem as I see it only from the outside. from where I stand, I can say that many (chapril is one on them) are voluntary under a 1911 law explicitly forbidding to make profit.Asian instance I don't have many information about, but as a global phenomena, we can't have a uniform admin profile other than «competent enough system administrator»

@realcaseyrollins @abhijith @dwaltiz Ok, I think see what you mean, and if I get it, it's the reason why I leave mastodon after a year in 2016, because I was too incompatible with the specific social codes of marginality required by the community at the time. (And had bad boostrap?).I think the expansion of the fediverse is what make me happy here now?The racial bias is there, I don't know if (for France) it's more important in masto admin than in tech in general, but it's clearly there.

@Revertron @rust_discussions It's a very good question.I would say, *especially* if it's the best one.Here, there are good concurrent, but f they where none, the more the tool would be used, the more the project (the language) would be biased toward «be used with the tool». Which would be problematic for a Free tool that a programming language should be.Furthermore, enslaving the exercice of your art to a commercial licence is not very safe.

@Revertron @rust_discussions I'm sorry, if (neo)vim or emacs does not match your criteria, it's not my problem (but it require work to get it shaped to your hand).Rust Analyzer is pretty cool and well integrated.Rust programming is not a valid example of task requiring proprietary tools to be well used.
