@SpurgAnon I agree with you on circumcision but I don't think it'd actually help, infant circumcision and "sex change" operations are done for very different reasons.

@DarkMahesvara @Suiseiseki I'm basically trying to have a storage pool that's got parity (in case of disk failures) and can be expanded easily. Someone on /g/ said that mergerfs + snapraid is bad because it runs in userspace, which sounds like it'd hurt performance but I'm not totally sure.

@DarkMahesvara @Suiseiseki I'm aiming to make a 8 (maybe 10, but those two would likely be a separate pool) disk NAS with OpenMediaVault. I'm going to splurge on a bunch of 16TB+ HDDs (and re-use the two I already have)It's going to have a variety of data, mostly retro games and videos. A few other users, mostly friends who want to grab stuff from me every now and then, for the most part it's just going to be me though.I'll probably end up creating a separate backup of what data I can't re-download from the trackers I'm in, but I would still like to survive disk failures.

@DarkMahesvara @Suiseiseki The real problem with ZFS is that there's not really a way to grow the pool once I've made one, meaning that I'll have to buy all of the 16TB HDDs that I want at once.
