@ljs I dropped all my emacs configs and replaced it with doomemacs. I'd say things got way more stable and more reliable since then. Though there are also periods which things are broken. The good news is by updating most of the time those bugs get replaced by new unknown bugs. If lucky I don't use this feature so I have one bug less to be annoyed about

@ljs Since then I am using evil mode. The code navigation with it is hugely impressive. Once you got the shortcuts into the fingers, you want to use them everywhere :)

great start, btrfs is in read only mode, because no space left (no metadata space left). do i really have to reinstall?

@vbabka any rescue operation is blocked by the kernel remounting the fs as readonly because no space. so there is no way to recover from such a state?

@kernellogger @vbabka I think I triggered this by booting into a snapshot and forgot to do 'snapper rollback, reboot'. This caused the metaspace to fillup. Anyway, all attempts to free same space fail, because 'free extents' will allocate new space. Unless there is an option to disable this. Also no chance to change the snappshot or release one

@kernellogger @vbabka yes, that's a funny guide. All btrfs rescue operation assume it's possible to mount the filesystem in read-write mode. Even adding additional space needs read-write fs. I wish there would be a userland tool which could do fs ops... maybe a hackweek project :)

@kernellogger @vbabka first step before reinstalling everthing full backup.maybe I could fix the FS offdisk... e.g. copy the fs to a external space, free space, copy it back...

@kernellogger @vbabka Thanks, I'll recover eventually. This is just a learning experience.I wont work anything today, that's for sure. the full disk backup takes 1h and then I can start with some destructive operations

@ljs @ptesarik You rode a bike a kid? You still got it! I started seriously biking 15 years ago. Just be careful with those cars. I am older and have 2kg more than you and still riding a bike. Being outside on the bike is a blast! Just give it a go, it's way better than doing the cardio inside.

@ljs @ptesarik I got the impression(*) there are quite a few nice off roads available in UK. So maybe a gravel bike or a cross country MTB would make more sense if you don't want to be on the road (which I totally get).(*) GCN on youtube

@ljs @vbabka @ptesarik @lkundrak Good call, the next vacation is already queued up. I just need to survive two months of insanity.
