I’m curious since from my point of view as a trans man most rad-fems are right wing on the political spectrum, so I’m curious where you would lean on the spectrum whether it be right wing or left wing or no wing at all.

@Chirppa and what would you say the treatment they need is? If you say it’s a therapist in nearly all countries to get prescribed hrt you need to visit a therapist or psychologist for a psychiatric assessment.

@Chirppa I ask you in return for this what happens when the therapist fails? Therapists are not infaliable and may not be able to provide the mental help that hrt can provide, so while yes therapy does provide a solution that wouldn’t lead to permanent bodily changes I would predict 99/100 that therapy will not be enough to help the person suffering. For an example it’s like a severely depressed person, you could just give them therapy and no anti-depressants to help combat their depression, but what happens when the depressed person commits suicide due to not being given anti-depressants in the vain hope just therapy would suffice.

@Chirppa I ask you what harm? I know what you will most likely say but that is from your point of view, from the pov of a transitioning person what you see as harms would be seen as ups (at least in my experience.) and even if the effects of hrt are placebo I ask what the problem with that is? Happiness from placebo is no different than happiness from other sources. And to the point that therapy is a better solution to hrt I want to point out where that exact same argument was used previously, back in the 60’s-70’s and even leading up to today that has been an argument used against gay people, saying that therapy would help cleanse them from what others would deem as “wrong” instead of letting them be who they are is quite literally (at least from my interpretation) exactly the same argument used against gay people.

@Chirppa “to be trans means that you deny the way that you were born” I vehemently disagree with this statement, as much as it may seem like it to you I do not deny way that I was born, I dislike it certainly but that does not mean I deny it’s existence.

@Chirppa the way that you are born does not equate to the way you end up, while I agree there are people who will use this as an excuse to get access to places they shouldn’t that doesn’t mean that you should devalue trans matters, I’ll pull up a metaphor, for BLM while their protests were peaceful for the most part and everyone who went out there in a support for black rights protested peaceful there were people who used BLM as an excuse to riot and loot, now just because a small subsection of the people at the BLM protests looted places that doesn’t mean that everyone at the protests was automatically a looter or that because some people at the protests looted stores that the cause the majority of the protesters stood for was for moot.

@Chirppa I had to think about the answer to this for a while as it is quite an interesting question, I’ll say this, the difference comes in one being “right” and one being “wrong”, with another comparison I ask what about self-proclaimed “anime-sexuals” or “dream-sexuals”? I do not accept those as real sexualities and by the logic you’ve shown because I believe those are not sexualities I would believe being gay is not a sexuality either. The best way to phrase this is in the way of one being those who genuinely feel a certain way and those who make something up to ridicule the former. Rachel for example has said this in a bid to harm the trans communities reputation (at least from what I interpret) and the same could be said for people like “anime-sexuals” who only made being anime-sexual up in a bid to hurt the gay community. While I may not have expressed my viewpoint exceptionally well I have faith that you can fill in the blanks that I’m bound to have left.

@Chirppa I actually have to thank you for this. It certainly helped with my mental health not to have people yelling at me after losing my dad and allowed me to accurately consider what being a radfem is without just thinking of how to rebuke a transphobe. While I am still trans and will always be this website has surprisingly been informative once I get through all the trans hate.

I was having an argument with one of my friends a couple hours ago and we came across the point of spinster, my friend says that they hate the website because of its glaring transphobia, while I agree with them on that I also know that people are on spinster for reasons other than trans matters, to convince them I need some screenshots of people testifying as to why spinster is a good website (yes ik it's about protecting women's rights and free speech but they won't take my word on that lol)

I just got a double mastectomy about a month ago, in this past month I've felt better than I every have before. I've never actually asked this question before so I was wondering why so many people here are against trans affirming surgeries? I've heard it thrown around that it's because trans people are mutilating their bodies so if that's why then explain that in more detail because I'm actually genuinely curious about this.

Out of sheer curiousity I want to ask what would you say your political ideology is? I realise that by asking this it leaves a lot of people out so if your political ideology isn't one of the "mainstream" ones tell me in the replies because I wanna try to figure out the demographics.
