I admit I have this stupid talking tube, Alexa. They changed the voice to sound more human. I absolutely hate it now. I tried telling it I want it back to the original voice, it says it can’t. Fuck you, spygear! I hate you now!

@Gnomeshatecheese @Flick This is common- you can never duplicate the noise for the person who needs to hear it to properly diagnose the issue. Some flaw in the universe…

@brendamccann That’s true compassion for animals. Unbelievably cold in many areas. Probably not a feral cat, it’s had human contact.

@brendamccann Many cats get abandoned and dumped off from owners who won’t commit to caring for them. Eventually they’ll turn feral again, but they are smart and seek out new humans, every cat I’ve taken in was like this. Current one though I trapped at a test facility, it was a dangerous place, coyotes around too. 13 years later, he’s baking in front of the fireplace, with a smile on his face, right now…

😕 this must be a joke. The American Library Association’s Odyssey Award committee named Alex L. Comb’s and Andrew Eakett’s Trans History the 2026 Odyssey Award winner for young adults!Trans History is a deeply researched introduction to trans history—from ancient times to the present day—that features a broad range of voices. Conversations with modern activists, scholars, and creatives highlight the breadth of current trans experiences and give listeners a deeper sense of the diversity of and between trans people. Andrew Eakett skillfully leads the full cast of narrators, with carefully crafted soundscapes that transport listeners throughout centuries of history. Trans History is producer Iris McElroy’s first and Juan Garcia Ticoulat’s first Odyssey win. “Listening to [the Trans History] audiobook is like spending a few hours with your favorite teacher. Narrator Andrew Eakett is supported by a full cast who take listeners on a comprehensive journey through a history of trans identities. Eakett’s narration is engaging, knowledgeable, and funny as he shares key terminology, historical examples, and compelling stories of people ranging from Roman emperors to the icons of the Stonewall Riots and to present-day figures from cultures around the world.” —AudioFile Magazine https://penguinrandomhouseaudio.com/posts/trans-history-wins-the-2026-odyssey-award-soundtrack-and-whale-eyes-take-odyssey-honors/

Screw the AAP. Don’t they love HRT for kids too? Assholes. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends children be vaccinated against 18 diseases, more than the U.S. government directs after it overhauled its schedule. The doctors group, which released its recommendations Monday, kept its guidance largely unchanged from its previous version from last year. The group said it doesn’t endorse the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s childhood-vaccine schedule. The agency now recommends all children get vaccinated against 11 diseases.https://archive.ph/KMS9R

@HebrideanHecate @Flick I do not believe these statistics at all. Perhaps thefts are less reported because it’s not worth the effort knowing the perpetrator never gets caught nor punished and goods are never returned - people would rather spend the effort cleaning up glass and repairing it.
