@futurebird it's a download link of an "upload" that is attached to a "print file" :)

@futurebird there never was a "local" amazon version, I would buy somehing from .co.uk or .de once in a few years, certainly won't anymore.I certainly do try to buy local when that's an option, but if I need some electronics or cheap trinkets, I always buy brand name stuff.By which I mean, stuff branded by the actual Chinese manufacturer, from their official store, on AliExpress.(remember when AliExpress was "the shady place"? lol.)

@futurebird I'm always behind on my tax reports (personal and LLC) and when I try to get up to speed it's mostly 1) reading convoluted laws/guidebooks 2) keeping things organized.Maybe if I didn't skip school they'd have taught me that, in literature and math perhaps.🎵 ...maybe it's ADHD

@futurebird interacted in livejournal comments a few times, then met at friends' house for some games, then kept doing just that for months

@aral @bnys are you planning any more of these in the future? Thank you for the work you've done on this, I'm one of those people who never donated to Gaza fundraisers before Gaza Verified, since they're all in someone else's name (understandable), and sadly scammers are better equipped for outreach than actual people suffering.

@zeldman is it just me or does your server respond with an activitystreams object if there's utm_source and utm_medium in the query? :blobcatderpy:Edit: or it's cloudflare cloudflaring I guess. But that's what i get.curl --head 'https://zeldman.com/2025/10/25/receipts-a-brief-list-of-prominent-articles-proclaiming-the-death-of-the-web/?utm_source=wat&utm_medium=huh'content-type: application/activity+json

@xarvos tbh i did consider that – exactly because self-hosting seemed easier than picking an instance (and i did end up picking wrong and having to self host a couple months later anyway)

@hailey glib, a C library, should also not be confused with glibc, a C library

@futurebird if that really is the most important thing, then this makes the decision easy, now that there's a pill form. Just one more drug to take for the rest of my life immediately sounds less dramatic! And, like, the current three are to make that life a bit more productive, a bit less unpleasant, and a bit less likely to abruptly end without warning. It's absolutely a trade I'll make again.Just had a dialogue with my mom a few days ago where she complained about everyone around her drinking themselves to death and after a few changes of topic said she worried i'm getting "addicted and zombified" by the prescription stimulants and antidepressants. So, like everyone else, but without the bad parts, then?

@futurebird I've been putting off getting an appointment about it, will go do it now and see how it goes! Thank you for the nudge I guess!I think pills might work for me. I've been at the same (over) weight for ten years probably and my main concern isn't even that but the flip flop between zero appetite and sudden urge to eat everything in reach. And methylphenidate only makes it worse. So hopefully I only need a nudge with that as well!

@froztbyte you know a project is doing great when someone refers to "that commit" and you wonder "which one of those commits do you mean" and it's a fucking new one

@eltonfc oh, that's an interesting question. I never really thought about it and I think it... explains some things?Do I understand correctly, the question is whether I interpret "close" as "i want (the computer) to close the file" versus "computer, close the file"?Because now I realize i've never ever talked to a computer the way people talk to chatbots and maybe that's one of the reasons it feels really weird. Well, in addition to all those other reasons. So yeah, infinitive in every case and every language for me. I'm communicating a desire for a thing to be done, not giving orders.Edit: and yeah, at least in Latvian and Russian it is and always was infinitive. Saglabāt, сохранить, etc. Never even crossed my mind it's completely ambiguous in English.

@eltonfc and for some verbs imperative makes no sense to me at all.Surely, when I click "rename file" the actual command is "present me with an input field to enter a new name"? I'm the one doing the renaming. The stupid piece of metal is just logging my actions to the best of its ability.

@foone @ZiggyTheHamster wait was your previous name actually MIDDLENAME or was it actually entirely normal?Because I was about to suggest just Middle Name, if "people trying to figure out whether you broke their system" counts towards the goal.
