This week's side project might be useful for Solid developers. It's called Penny, and it allows you to inspect and manipulate data in your Pod.Give it a try here, and let me know what you think: https://Penny.VincentTunru.com #Solid #SolidProject

@noeldemartin Thanks for the suggestions! Collapsing and better handling of unhappy paths are on my informal TODO.txt, but I'm not sure I'm going to do the non-empty container deletion, as I don't know yet how to deal with the situation in which some files were deleted, but other files weren't. But who knows :)

I want to support decentralisation, but I also want to have some confidence that a Mastodon instance will be around in the somewhat longer term. Thus, I was thinking about moving to #Fosstodon. Anything to be aware of?

@noeldemartin Yep, but setting up my own domain is still more hassle and reliance on unreliable me than I'm willing to bear at this time. Additionally, it feels like somewhat of a waste of resources that I'd like to avoid if I can.Unfortunately, though there are plenty of people I trust, I think there are none who are also running an instance and are relatively sure they'll still be running it in a couple of years.

@noeldemartin Yeah exactly, and for all the stuff I *do* have under my domain, I'm afraid that I'll one day mess it all up in one fell swoop 😅

This is a great point:> It might feel to them as you're criticizing them personally, and it takes a lot of effort not to take the criticism personally. Honor that effort by making it easier not to take it personally.Sure, it'd be great if people would try not to take things personally — especially if it wasn't intended as a personal attack! But we're all human and imperfect, and by taking the small effort of being mindful of that, feedback can be so much more effective.

This is also a great attitude:> Be prepared for your feedback not to be acted uponIf you're the one who's going to have to maintain the work, of course your input matters. But sometimes we're wrong, sometimes it's just Not That Important. There's no need to "win" everything.

I wonder what percentage of user stories ever written have had more than a cursory thought spent on the "As a..." and especially the "so that..." parts?

@noeldemartin Hey Noel, just a heads-up: deleting entire Containers is now supported in Penny. And I added collapsing a while ago :)

@noeldemartin Ah cool, didn't know that, but that's useful! Alt+click now works in Penny too.And yeah, the UX isn't super polished, but I wanted to get the functionality out the door since multiple people had requested it so far. It now shows which resources it's currently deleting; it's still a lot of jumping around and quick flashing of messages, but at least you have some idea of what's going on during longer operations.

"People want more relevant ads" sounds reasonable, until you realise that "more relevant" means "tailored to influence your specific behaviour".For example, showing you articles about the futility of voting if you're likely to vote a certain way.

@kev Yes, that's exactly the type of info I was hoping people would point me to, thanks! I'll try to find some time to migrate soonish :)And maybe as a suggestion, I went looking for this info here, so might be worth adding a link to that post at that page: https://fosstodon.org/about/more

@noeldemartin Depends on your target audience, I assume. I'm hoping that this will broaden that though.

@matiaslavik Depending on how quickly you need it, this new project seems interesting and matching your requirements: https://frame.workNot shipping to Europe until later this year though. But user-replaceable everything - battery, screen, ports, etc!
