@_xhr_ Another cool thing is jumping between the paired parentheses with the (), [] and {} keys. Absolutely great for browsing JSON if you happen to have it open in `less` and not some text editor with this capability exposed in a more obvious way.A generalized version is Ctrl+Alt+F/B followed by two characters forming a pair to jump between.

@gamingonlinux Sarcasm aside, I've got some feedback if you don't mind. I've had a casual talk with a friend (pinging @madargon) about the general drama of "GOL going to Instagram" and the conclusion was neither of us gets what good comes from announcing it on Mastodon. At best, people won't care, most of them moved away from the corporate social media for a reason. At worst, your typical drama ensues. At this point it's just preaching to the choir, to the people you've already reached.

@gamingonlinux @madargon I'm already accepting it, and it's not as if Youtube & co. are any less corporate. I merely don't understand the purpose of announcing it to people already following you here and now, and that's what I stated. No more, no less. Are we seriously going to play the blocking game every single time someone isn't 100% positive?

@kernic @gamingonlinux @madargon You're definitely right, and I agree with you in general. What I disagree with are just the details:- it was barely a post, not even a full sentence- Mastodon already has a place for links to your other social media accounts- at this point Liam is complaining about people complaining much more than they are actually complaining, and includes constant threats in there- frankly, I mind these threats much more than I could ever mind Instagram

@kernic @gamingonlinux @madargon To summarize:1. Liam posts a half-assed spammy post that could be a profile item instead.2. I politely ask about it and voice my opinion.3. Liam threatens people he'll block them if they will engage with his posts in any meaningful way. AGAIN! This is not the first time.4. Liam makes half a dozen more posts complaining about people making noise in his notification feed. Ironic, considering now my feed is spammed with him complaining about the whole situation.

@kernic @gamingonlinux @madargon And in the end I don't think anybody criticized him for using Instagram now. There were some remarks from other people last time he posted about it, but not now. My response was not about him using Instagram at all. It was about the way it was being advertised.

@gamingonlinux So far it seems that's you not liking people being social to you, not the other way around. Why are *you* here?

@tn5421 As far as I know, the only thing emacsclient can do, is to tell the Emacs daemon to create a new frame, locally to the daemon. Unless you include X11 forwarding it has no chance to work this way. With X11 forwarding it should work, as Emacs can open on multiple DISPLAYs on the "same machine" (the X11 forwarding makes it no longer Emacs' problem what machine it actually is).

Quite the opposite: Ansible gets redundant on NixOS, as Nix itself serves as the declarative layer. The OS isn't immutable, not in the Fedora Silverblue meaning. A better word would be "transactional".NixOS in a way is a system with a version control system and a configuration management system built-in. Read it as: "What if my Debian had Git and Ansible included as its integral part?"

@Cheeseness @boilingsteam It's a good ol' network effect. A friend of mine left Github a while ago, but ended up going back and reluctantly mirroring some of his repositories on Github due to the sheer number of contributors being confused by anything other than Github. At least it was a conscious tradeoff and not a blind defaulting to Github, and it's still only a mirror. We need more people being comfortable with workflows outside of Github.

@nixCraft Is this option present for the users within the EU too? I cannot find it there. I guess I should just wipe my account at this point, I haven't used it in literal years.
