@thelinuxEXP to clarify, privacy-invasive apps and services shouldn't be mixed with #linux, even if for pure ideology reasons.Linux is where you should go to escape big data collection and intrusive practices. I see the value in having compatibility to attract the wider audience and make the transition seamless, but that should be only a starting point. The goal always has to be #privacy alternatives. No criticism to the OP of the video.

@thenewoil The worst part is what kind of protection would exist? Do defensive AI deep measures exist?#privacy

@thenewoil 2FA should be compulsory for most accounts. Preferably not the SMS-kind, but TOTP

@spacebuffer @Tekchip So if I bought #tuxedo linux laptop, flashing #popos would not be recommened? In that case, I'd have to stick to #TuxedoOs

@tuxedocomputers @spacebuffer @Tekchip Thanks for confirming. Once you manage to provide #coreboot, you will definitely be on my radar for #linux OS and hardware purchases.

@tilvids No, because we need options and competition. Even if most of them exist in the short term, users will have more freedom to choose their preference

@thenewoil Is the future then for manufacturers to have built-in cellular technology? This is currently the case with smart TVs not being connected to a network - how long till cellularis built-in like with cars - and no availability of dumb TVs. This is getting scary

@thenewoil Concerning, but it's nice to see that people are understanding more about #privacy. They care when they see that it affects them personally. So, a win (sort of). However I am confused why the explicit and attention grabbing police presence? Were they trying to make it obvious?Facial rec. happens in a lot of places with inconspicuos mounted cameras and noone realises, so... Just a weird story

@thenewoil Would this news make Skiff more legitimate? Been following them for a while and despite some recent disagreements with @privacyguides, I hope they will become a serious #privacy option. We can benefit from more alternatives

@thenewoil My #privacy setup includes a use of TRUSTED VPN, but I partially agree with the article and other major arguments against VPNs. They have a specific and niche purpose and should be a contributing part of a privacy strategy, but they don't do that much. However, the argument that often escapes the anti-VPN side is that reputable VPNs are often much more trustworthy than any ISP currently existing. ISP collect, log, monitor, sell and use customer data and traffic - VPNs may do that. Reputable ones don't (allegedly) and even if they did it is much easier to bounce between VPNs than it is between ISPs.

@thenewoil LibreWolf is loved in the #privacy community but Mozilla Firefox should still be recommended and used over it.

@thenewoil It was a matter of time. We are beyond stopping the technologically invasive anti privacy practices. What we need to focus on going forward is:1. Practical #privacy laws.2. Effective counter measures3. Public education of why privacy matters

@thenewoil We should be ready though but some are too busy drafting legislation for encryption backdoors to 'protect children'

@thenewoil not the first time I hear the advice to restart the phone regularly. Maybe it is a good habit to implement for privacy and security

@killyourfm @thunderbird Wanna get straight to the point - what else could be expected from Google or Microsoft? It's a bit obvious. The first mistake was to use Gmail/Outlook.
