Recently a neighbour looked at one of my bikes and said "you must have lots of money".He owns a soft-top Audi and a new city van which he's just bought. It's amazing how people can erase/ignore the cost of motor vehicles from their minds. It's a really impressive trick. You hear the same when people comment about cargo bikes which could actually replace a car!

@edgeoforever That whole trope about people not being poor because they have phones is so disingenuous too.

The spectators for the #coronation left a real mess behind after them. Not very patriotic, is it.

So, #BritishCycling have finally responded about including trans people in races. The long and short of it is that there will be two categories: Open, and Female. The Female category is only for people assigned female at birth and trans men who "have not yet started hormone therapy".The Open category is open to transgender women, transgender men, non-binary people and people assigned male at birth. So trans women are competing with men and trans men are competing with women.

My suspicion why there are only two categories is that they're just going to rename the male category as "open" because their computer systems can't support more than two. Also it really is much worse for women's cycling because there's essentially now "regular" and "female" categories.Although all women can race in the Open category and it'll be interesting when women start beating men.

Yeah, I'm on #Threads. I know. But also I know that where I feel most at home is on Mastodon.

I love bleak dystopian films because it reminds me of a time before bleak dystopia when we thought a bleak dystopia wasn't _actually_ our future.

Rarely do you get to see the roots of post boxes like these ones waiting to be re-potted.

That Sadiq Khan was booed while making a really positive speech speaks volumes about how entrenched and polarised some people have become. I'm so proud to have a Muslim mayor and while I would rather he go even further to improve London for walking, cycling, and people at least he isn't a candidate that would take us back to the 70s again.

Can't remember having a worse bank holiday weekend ever, actually. I'm in so much pain even making a cup of tea or sitting down on the loo is agony and I can't even walk my dog. It's absolutely rubbish.

Still in pain and can't move much. This is one of the worst things to deal with. I've just had a day of tattooing and that's easy compared to the debilitating pain in my back at the moment. A neighbour is walking my dog at the moment so that's good but otherwise I'm just trying to move from bed to a chair to the toilet. It's the worst.

I did sleep last night although in the middle of the night woke up and couldn't move. So I just had to go back to sleep again. But had about 8 hours nearly, which was great. The pain is still horrendous but moved to my butt/leg now which feels like some progress. At some point it will end and I'll be able to move normally and that's going to be bliss!

I can hear this really annoying high-pitched sound coming from a neighbour's house but hardly anybody else can hear it so people, I think, aren't really bothered. Can you hear it here? It's really obvious to me.

Walking into the Post Office there was a woman coming out and I waited for her. A guy behind me pushed straight past me and past the woman trying to walk out. I spoke to him in the queue and asked if he'd seen me or the woman and he said, nonchalantly, "no, I don't care". I pointed out calmly that it is nice to be aware of others and he called me a bully. "You're only calling me a bully because that's what you are" I replied to him.
