Rosa Luxemburg.The furry community is at a decision point what it wants to be and represent.The average furry is young, white, male and relatively wealthy or at least in a financially stable situation, and bi or gay. Apart from the sexual orientation, they are pretty privileged. A non-heterosexual orientation is increasingly accepted in the society, and the furry fandom has not been discovered as a proxy for the queer community in Germany by right wing idiots yet (or at least not on a large scale). Even though the amount of right wing extremist attacks is massively rising, it is still low enough for many to ignore, leading to the (for many comfortable) opinion “I don't (need to) care about politics”.Everyone in the fandom can and must change this. That some sexual orientations or gender identities are considered “political” isn't inherent — it's made political by those who discriminate against, and it's only a matter of time before those will target the fandom as well. Staying “non-political” will not prevent being targeted in the long run, but only delay it being inevitable.So let's fight before it's too late!
