       When you have someone crash for the night, if they have the Windows OS, beware the nightly updates. Last night, for about five hours, I thought my neighbour had decided to play their TV on loud. But actually, the Windows had automatically updated itself, rebooted, and apparently restored all programs including the browser's tabs which had an infinite play of bad music videos. When I got downstairs the screen was locked, but luckily folks use predicable passwords. Though, laptops make great wake-up-bricks as well. On the other hand, I could see this as an advantage if someone wants to scare their roommates.

       That special time of year...  Remember, everyone, most people are poor or going through some kind of sjit/paska right now. Probably someone you know, and probably strangers too. And probably some bad drivers, normally not so bad. And they'll probably try to unintentionally kill you when you cross the street. So tell them to stuff it, but remember they're still someone's friend, parent, kid, or whatever.

       Either this or next weekend I have some upgrades planned both for server and for the app (gnusocial). We might have some downtime, but it shouldn't happen for long if we do, perhaps 5 minutes. I will give more information when I have a better plan. #SysAdmin
