@QasimRashid UnitedHealth Group made $17.3 billion in total profit in 2021. Kaiser Permanente made record profits: $8.1 billion. Anthem (BCBS) netted $1.1 billion in the fourth quarter alone (twice as much as in 2020).Billions you paid for healthcare you didn't receive.

@lowqualityfacts Disagree. Saying an AR-15 isn't an assault rifle is like saying Frankenstein wasn't a mad scientist because technically he wasn't diagnosed as mentally ill, no matter what the results of his crazy experiments.

@grammargirl That and because selective quoting sometimes means the result gives the opposite answer if you read further.I also switched to Duck Duck Go last month because Google's results were so consistently poor.

@spandauAnders @shanselman The account predates his death. Because Musk couldn't sell enough blue checks, he gave all non-paid accounts with more than 1 mil followers a free check, but the text still says it was paid for, even on the abandoned account of a man who died in 2018.

@benjaminhollon The number of people on Reddit on their 3rd Fitbit in 2 years is absolutely shocking. And in the US, the warranty is a meager 12 months. If the "free" replacement dies outside of the original 12 month window (e.g., unit 1 dies after 7 months, and unit 2 dies after a further 6 months), they won't replace it! You just get a 35% off code for the Fitbit website.

@TorontoWill @Popehat "It's always bullshitting, even when it's right," may be the most concise description of LLM I've see thus far!

Fans of @grammargirl know about eggcorns and naprons. Kiddo is chicken sitting which means she gets to wear an eggpron to check on the girls.

A long road trip last week gave me a chance to catch up on some old podcasts. I was so surprised to hear a letter from Chris Christensen (the Amateur Traveler) on Grammar Girl (@grammargirl). I usually hear him on Daily Tech News Show (@dtnsshow)

@grammargirl @flargh That's incredible! Not sure if you should buy a lottery ticket or if you just used up all your good luck for the year. 😅

@simon I can't say that LLMs aren't good for anything. However, they aren't good for the vast majority of things that people use them for.https://www.theregister.com/2023/08/07/chatgpt_stack_overflow_ai/"'Our analysis shows that 52 percent of ChatGPT answers are incorrect and 77 percent are verbose,' the team's paper concluded. '...ChatGPT answers are still preferred 39.34 percent of the time due to their comprehensiveness and well-articulated language style.' Among the set of preferred ChatGPT answers, 77 percent were wrong."
