An addendum to yesterday's thread on Foucault's Spinozan conception of power: this concept of power also means that there are qualitatively different kinds of power, with different kinds of outcomes. What nourishes and increases the capacity of the proletariat to act is different from what nourishes and increases the capacity of the capitalist to act.

Action is a habit. Protests and strikes are a skill to practice and a muscle to exercise. When people are in the habit of taking to the streets, it's easier to build movements with real momentum and resilience.Protests don't necessarily accomplish anything in their own right, just like going to the gym isn't the same thing as running a marathon. But people don't just spontaneously run marathons either, particularly if they're not in the habit of exercising.

Okay, you folks really need to check out Tallboyz. It's the sweetest, purest, funniest sketch comedy show. All POC cast as well.If you're in Canada you can see it for free on CBC Gem. If you're in America, I dunno, figure it out, see how it feels being region locked.

The true objective is to conceive of tiddies in the absence of any other qualifier, for that only removes us further from their essence by making them dependent upon what is in reality a secondary term or *expression*; we must understand tiddies in and of themselves

Since we are talking ADHD on the timeline, this might be a good opportunity to direct folks to a couple very good ADHD resources:*How To ADHD* is a very compassionate and non-pathologising youtube channel by the peppiest woman on earth*ADHD Rewired* is a podcast by a kind of insufferably entrepreneurial cis dude, but which nonetheless consistently delivers profoundly useful insights and strategies.

I figured out why it bothers me when people post jokes from twitter without attribution. It's not that I care about some concept of intellectual property over jokes. It's that what I came to love best about mastodon was how it was developing its own distinctive posting culture, and it frustrates me to think of mastodon becoming just another distribution node for the posting culture of the place many of us ostensibly sought to leave.I just needed to get this off my chest.

About five or six years back I rescued a saw-whet owl that was being attacked by a raven. Ran down into the ditch and scared the raven off. It hung out on my arm until the raptor rescue center folks showed up.Here's a picture of a wild owl just hanging out on my arm.

You know, if Mastodon devs were really committed to making this a social network that people can have a healthy relationship with, they would include the option for built-in usage timers, maybe other features that help you to feel okay about stepping awayA social network that lets you know it's okay to put it down

It really sucks that the way philosophy is taught is a big old jump from Aristotle straight to Descartes. As though the reason why we have Aristotle in the first place wasn't because of the work of Islamic falsafa and the Arabic translation houses of Al-Andalus.As though Descartes didn't draw most of his major ideas from Ibn-Sina.

Since we are talking atheism on the timeline: I remember a distinct moment as a young atheist when Islamaphobia was becoming dominant in atheist circles and it became suddenly clear to me that I was being presented with a choice about which mattered to me more: a hatred of religious thought, or a humanistic love of other people.
