"Another message will be sent in 536870912 days if the problem persists."Turns out that changing smartd's reminders to "diminishing" with existing errors calculates a rather large warning interval!

@revk From the shape and description, I'd expected it to be ceiling rose sized.Might have to give these a try.

9pm on a work night is *not* a good time to mess up the network config on your headless NAS

@wizzwizz4 This was pretty much my plan. My (cheap) external caddy seems to have issues with the drives though, which is unhelpful.

@be Not sure what the limits would be for drawing power from the phone, but external power to the dock should supply downstream devices. When not connected to the phone, supplying external power to the dock definitely powers the USB A ports, so if the phone is taking power from the dock then pretty sure that means power for the USB A ports will have to be from the external supply.

@be Good question! Hastily assembled test setup below.I can happily mount and read from the hard drive with external power supplied and the phone charging, but it looked like the supply from the phone on its own topped out around 0.5A. The hard drive wasn't happy to spin up without external power.

@linmob You can add battery info to the header in htop. F2 (or C), Meters and then you should have an entry for battery in the list on the right.

@kzimmermann I was under the impression that all the major distros worked with secure boot as standard? Fedora is my usual choice, and I know that works out of the box.Not tried it on a removable drive before, although I'm tempted to try now!

@seperis Sort of. If I've understood correctly then each instance links up to others when users ask to follow someone from elsewhere. And the federated feed then includes all the public toots from every instance where at least one person on your instance follows at least one person.
