@cosullivan Obviously these tendencies don't hold true across all people, but it seems that young people don't care about privacy and older people don't know enough to care about their privacy either with regards to things like this. I don't know about "within a five-year margin" but I think there are good odds you are between 30 and 40. Possibly late twenties.

@thor I usually use a wet washcloth to clean all of my electronic equipment. Not sopping, dripping wet, but wetter than damp. I've never had any issues.

@shit @thor Yeah, I think a consensus on the definition of "nerd" should perhaps be the first order of business. I would define "nerd" as someone with hobbies and/or interests in areas traditionally considered niche, esoteric, obscure, especially computing, culture, literature, et cetera.

@thor This is a massive misunderstanding of why people hate nazis. I'm not going to say "well, Hitler drank water so it's evil!" What makes a nazi a nazi is the evil things. You can't look at the regular human things nazis did and say "see! They weren't *all* bad!" That is almost an argument in bad faith. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt for now and say that this is a misunderstanding and not malice aforethought on your part.

@thor We've had at least 75 years to reflect on naziism and there's nothing new to add to the discussion. I don't understand why you seem to think that any criticism of the nazis must come from a stance that naziism is the only evil thing that has ever existed. There can in fact be more than one bad thing in the world. You are being *willfully* obtuse.Naziism is defined by what makes it evil. What makes naziism different from other forms of fascism or far-right thought is genocide and eugenics.

I may not be able to root my phone, but I was able to disable and/or uninstall all Google apps and disable Google Play Services, so I think that's pretty good in the meantime. Every app on my phone is from Fdroid!

@tapani Since all of my apps are from Fdroid, the only error I've had is that Protonmail mo longer shows me push notifications. However, if you use a lot of apps that rely on Google Play Services, you will have errors if you disable it.
