@foone wouldn’t BLE signal triangulation get us there? you’d need a few fixed points to triangulate from, but i agree it could be worth the trouble.

@foone i might have been a bit optimistic on this one, from a quick search 🥲 Many have had that idea, and ran into difficulties.

@david_snug honnêtement, le truc le plus efficace qu'on puisse faire contre la prison, c'est d'y mettre des politiciens.

@futurebird i think anyone who gets to adulthood not having learned to swim, (unless they can't for medical reasons) has been failed. We have the tools, it's not hard, but will is necessary.

@futurebird I absolutely agree, as a dev i use AI coding tools at work to help build features faster, we are encouraged by the company and vetted products are available, mainly claude, codex, amp, and aside their relative performance at producing usable code, the UX differences are the first things we tend to remark upon, and while these are all tui tools at the moment, which i like, i feel this is creating barriers to understanding their output and guide them.

@futurebird you seem to be working very hard to convince yourself 😆 That must be so, so hard, i shouldn't laugh. 🥲

@futurebird I had to check but he was indeed back in NL in 1943, but he did live many years in Italy then a bit in Switzerland, before coming back there, so if working from memory, or collected samples, there might be influences from there, too.

@stux looks great! If anything, i would say just use more specific text, or no text at all because "defeat enemies and bosses" i mean, right it’s a video game 😆. But it does look like a good game!

@uzakl @crowdagger @notjustbikes Je pense que ce genre d’accidents sera probablement le plus à même de les décourager, mais ce serait pas mal que ça leur passe *avant*.

@futurebird likely: A lot of angry emails, probably nothing changes, *maybe* etsy gives in to reclamations and remove the products.should: If the work is considered parody, it could maybe continue to be sold just like currently, if it's considered derivative it should be removed, a court should find out (but it probably won't).

@futurebird likely: fans tear at each others, the author is on the receiving side of a lot of abuse, people who made the accusations too, we never know the truth.should: people shouldn't throw accusations around like this, the detector is shit, if it was good, the LLM would use it to improve by adversarial training and beat it. Is the fanfic good? Do people like it? I don't think anything else should matter here.

@futurebird likely: She honestly explains what she did, not sure about consequences.Should: the teacher gives feedback about if it's permissible use, give guidelines to class about LLM use because they know it's inevitable at this point, unless they do the essay in class, on controlled computers or paper. The teacher adjust work so having access to an LLM is not a magical solution (but it's **hard**), and make sure students learn to think better than the LLM does.

@futurebird likely: she gets accused of using AI whether it's true or not.should: well, i don't think there is much wrong about that, the AI is a tool that exist, we should expect people to use it, if the result is deemed superior, it's justification in itself. Especially as she didn't just take the idea, but improved upon it, and mastered the techniques to create it. Others decided to participate without using all the available tools, it's on them, unless it was part of the rules.

@futurebird i’m not very cold sensitive, but cold water can be a bit much, well, as long as it’s not ice it can’t be *that* cold, right? Train on a few cold/hot/cold showers before maybe to see how you handle it? It’s usually great past the initial shock though. It certainly won’t kill you, though you might think it will when you get in 😆.

@futurebird @Steve @FuturisticRobert i think people who built it had an interest in that, but the creation escaped them and they moved on, replaced by opportunists.

@jzb i think the problem is more that workers have much greater work ethics than generally acknowledged, and if a tool allow them to work faster, they'll do more work, not not reclaim more time.but more than une explanation can be true at the same time.

@wolf480pl @jzb yeah, but they do mostly rely on workers honesty to learn that. And there is always more work to do, in my experience as a dev.
