In the app I have found a way to view posts from all users within my community but is there a way to view all posts from other communities? I tried searching the server name but didn’t see it as an option

@jerry I’ll buy a copy for $5 :) Looks like that puts you about 1/4 of the way toward a nice disposable camera, with a flash!

First time getting a phish like this. I was mentioned in a comment on a google doc that contained the phishing text. This email came from a legitimate google domain so no reason for it to get picked up by filtering. Interesting.#phishing #scam

Something that I’ve noticed more and more since migrating from Twitter is that I don’t get angry when I open the replies to a toot. This is in contrast to the bird site in that opening the replies to any given tweet had a 75% chance of containing one of the following: hate speech, people intentionally mischaracterizing the original tweet, outrage porn, intentionally inflammatory comments, misinformation, or head in sand viewpoints. This morning I opened Twitter and clicked on a tweet with a business insider article that said “Use of the N-word has gone up almost 500% under musk” and one of the replies was “well I haven’t seen any”. Resisting the urge to respond “well if you, who follows 12 accounts on Twitter, haven’t seen any then it must not exist!” I opened mastodon and was instantly greeted by positive, insightful, thoughtful, and relevant posts to me. Also the conversation here, probably because of who I follow on Mastodon, is significantly less political and more focused toward my interests. This is undoubtedly because there is no algorithm at play here and it is very much a better experience.Happy to have found some great people and hope that as more people I enjoy seeing posts from migrate I will be able to stop using the bird site entirely and then quickly forget about it and what is on it.

Going to fall asleep reading a new book. Thanks to my local library for providing the book and thank to @tinker for showing me that I can in fact put borrowed books on my kindle!

@alex wow, that article is wild. Also pledging to not talk to the feds while spilling your guts to a reporter is… something.

My new hobby is snitching on companies who are being scumbags. I find their respective government regulators and so far 2/5 of my complaints have resulted in investigations that found violations and the other 3 are still just pending investigation. I'm tired of being screwed over by companies and just sucking it up because it's only $10 and not worth arguing about so I decided to start doing something about it
