Picked up the work laptop, my new department, purchased for me this morning. My preference would be Linux, but as that wasn't an option, I picked out a m2 MacBook Air. I must say Apple does make a snazzy device.

If you think about it, only google could convince half the mobile developers on the planet to write java apps for a linux kernel based mobile operating sysyem, yet still make sure that that all their apps are incompatible with bog standard linux.

You know while it is bizarre and amazing that Trump and or DeSantis is really the best candidates the GOP have.It is also equally amazing that Joe is the best candidate the Democrats have.I do not understand why we are as a nation, obligated to watch this matchup play out again and again ad nauseam. Okay I kinda do, but we are actually at the point of nausea.

Dont really care if #twitter refugees are fleeing to another proprietary silo. EIther they will eventually learn the right lessons and be on an activitypub compatible platform again in the future, or were never likely to stick around the fediverse to begin with. Im not sure wringing our hands about it changes much. #bluesky

It did not really occur to me that all the twitter accounts I've been following using RSS Bridge, have been updating more and more sporadically as a result of Twitter API bullshit.Should have put that together. Hrmph... wonder what I should do about that, if anything.

Are there apps or front ends for Mastodon, which just present the fediverse in a format that is closer to a discussion board? Like, maybe you can pin hashtags as specific forums, and then click on them to see threaded conversations?I feel like this alone would be a good reddit replacement for me. Without having to bother with the community aspects of kbin or lemmy?

Whatever RedHat is doing, whether you find it reasonable or not; whether it is within the letter of the law or not; a few things are clear.They no longer believe in people's right to redistribute code. And from the sounds of the legal language they fence their code portal with. They do not believe in people's right to fork RHEL either.Which means their corporate philosophy stands in direct conflict with the open source and free software definitions.
