       @foone Ugh. I remember that some medical equipment is like that. They used external bricks which failed prematurely from the heat of being sealed in a metal box and nobody dared replace them because medical equipment is magical somehow.

       @foone Interesting that North Texas Tollway Authority is a member of the 6C coalition but uses a completely passive (reader-powered) sticker instead of a battery-powered box. I like that the Fastrak boxes beep on read (and can be moved between vehicles) but the NTTA stickers are cheap enough they send them to you for free.

       @doskel I've seen these used to host hardware license dongles so the actual licensed software could live in a vSphere cluster.
