@jeff @actuallyautistic @disability @nd_acolyte Nope. Websters defines hypochondriac as "a person who is often or always worried about his or her own health." Merely diagnosing yourself with a disability that others don't see (or don't want to see) as a disability is not being a hypochondriac. The other person makes a good case for including autism as a disability without saying any particular autistic person is disabled.

When I refer to the late stage #capitalism we're suffering under now as #fascism, I do so with Mussolini's statement (that fascism is essentially corporatism) in mind. He invented fascism, so he should know it's essential nature. As corporations don't exist in the same way as actual people do, what corporatism means to me is the oligarchs who control and benefit from the corporations want fascism or it won't exist. They create the conditions required for it to grow or oppose those conditions.

One of those conditions is the #OvertonWindow , which did not move toward the right on its own. There are countless other examples of reactions by corporate power to the cultural changes of the 1960s and 1970s that explain how we wound up with climate crisis at the same time late stage capitalism is marching into obvious fascism with all the visible consequences to most of us.

I'm not saying every millionaire is a fascist or fash-adjacent, but at a certain level of wealth (which is assets that generate income), their self interests diverge so far from the rest of us that they can easily become supporters of that evil. Corporate capitalism is a necessary precondition to fascism, as it lets the worst people accumulate too much wealth and power and to convince themselves and their followers that they deserve to rule. Once we have robber barons, they want to be barons.

@clive With all due respect to the guy quoted, we are not sleepwalking into authoritarianism.We're being steered there by a group of foreign and domestic oligarchs who own the MSM and/or massive stakes in oil and other industries that are causing climate change. This is end stage crony corporate capitalism and it's what happens when We the People let government corruption by big business go unchecked.
