@seth @david yeah I put my full #Mastodon user account URL into the Twitter field on my registration. I'm not sure how that will end up but i thought I'd at least try.

I think the days are numbered for me to continue using anything from #WordPress #JetPack on my site. I'm finding that it takes over things on my site in ways I don't like. Since I have moved all of my DNS to #Cloudflare and I use LiteSpeed as my web server along with their image CDN I think there are problem less problematic options. I think was keeps me using it is a handful of the WordPress.com integration features that I really want to have available.

So while one key piece of the #Fediverse is that entire instances can be blocked as a form of moderation, and keeping things safe for people. I think it should be clearly stated to newcomers to any instance if entire platforms such as #Meta / #Tumblr / #Medium / #WordPress.com / #Bluesky (through a bridge) are being blocked.If someone wants to have a federated identity and follow family/friends on Meta then they are SOL if an instance completely blocks the entire platform. #fediblock

@AdamAtSea nice. I haven't gone down the road of trying native video/camera support in #HomeAssistant as I only have a Google Nest Doorbell at this point.

@seth I'm with you on this. I also run my own instance because it's completely owned by me, and just like my own website, could be left as an island to itself but it's sill in my control. I know that I potentially run the risk that if I say something that pisses of a significant portion of folks I could be completely taken off the Fediverse with probably no recourse. I'm OK with that risk. I had pretty much left Twitter and Facebook already. 🤷♂️@dans_root

I am so sick of all of the garbage that I have to deal with because of #Apple and the crap they force. The very fact that #WordPress Core has to roll back what I consider a security enhancement is going to be rolled back because Apple puts garbage MACOSX folders in their zip archives, which have no business polluting other platforms is insanity.

So one other crappy thing with Google canning the Google Podcasts app is that now with YouTube Music they are injecting ads into Podcasts. Screw you Google!Edit: OK, I was wrong, whatever Podcasting hosting service this podcast is using is doing location detection and injecting location relevant ads. I get putting ads in your podcast but I don't like this localized injected garbage. Give me an ad for something you actually support. Not casino and restaurant garbage

I'm not sure how far my reach is but I'm wondering if any runners have guidance on getting Walk/Run intervals working on a Garmin watch, along with a training run?I'm using a 10K Walk/Run training plan and the Walk/Run intervals on some training days have no prompts. I tried setting up a Walk/Run Alert of 90 sec run 30 walk and turned it on for my last training run but I never got alerts, only the training plan alerts.#running #runners #garmin #training #fitness

All of this garbage about people being outraged about federation with Bluesky, Threads, etc and attacking people that are setting up bridges is a bunch of crap. If you don't want people following or interacting with you then why on earth are you on a publicly federated by design platform.I'm just glad I can just block or mute these people that are bent on being offended and outraged at everything.

More and more I'm wanting to control my own data & services, of course I still rely on things I can't as easily or reliably host myself such as DNS and cloud hosting. As it is, instead of relying on things like Slack or Push Bullet for sending me notifications I've setup my own ntfy.sh instance so that I can start migrating to it for sending me notifications. Having an existing Docker environment setup helped make this pretty easy. Thanks to this great article https://blog.alexsguardian.net/posts/2023/09/12/selfhosting-ntfy/

I'm currently on the look out to hand off the maintenance/ownership for 2 #WordPress plugins that I maintain.
